I'm going to see a ENT next week for a surgical consult. I may have to have surgery on my ear drum. I was just wondering if I have anything to worry about being put under due to the lyme. Of course none of my docters are worried about this fact because I had the magic IV and am now cured of lyme. I on the other hand know htat daily I am getting worse and know there is still somehting going on. Just wondering if this is going to mess me up even more.

Hi, pardon my ignorance, but what is wrong with your eardrum? Maybe you posted aboutit before, and I missed it.

Before you have any surgery, if at all possible, I would see another LLMD, and get the LD checked out. I the eardrum surgery is really important, that is a different story. Why are you not pursuing more treatment for LD? could LD be causing the eardrum problem, or do you think it is something totally unrelated?

Take care-terter

terter,
The problem with my eardrum is there is a growth on it and possibly another hole in it. I had surgery 12 years ago to close up a hole in my ear drum. I am currently going deaf in this ear. The surgeon is going to check for a hole. If it is another hole then it has to be closed up because the infection will continue to spread and will eventually make its way to my brain. I'm already having problems with the nerves on this side of my face and have had a chronic ear infection for past 2 and half months that nothing is clearing up.
Too answer your other question I am not persuing more treatment for LD because
1. There is no Ld Dr in my state. My reg Dr was going to try to help me and work with Dr.C in Mo but instead called an ID and is now really off the beam about lyme.
2. My family seems to think the IV did the trick and now I'm cured
3. I don't have the energy to drive myself out of state or the energy to fight with people about getting there.
I've had problems with this ear before but I've wondered a lot lately if the lyme is aggrivating it.

I am sorry to hear about your problems with ear & hearing.

I do know if infection goe`s to brain there is not much they can do.

I had a bout of cellulitis on face from just hair follicle. It started to go towards sinus cavity which would spread to brain quickly. They did not waste time calling up specialist & how serious this was.

I am surprised they are waiting if you have infection.
I cannot get any further treatment either than 4 wk doxy. Oral. I am also getting worse much worse.

Had to have hand operated on it locked up. Prob. due to chetes as I figured out now.

We are all diff. I did not have prob. being put under. Have had few other procedures also.

Think this is serious get done what you need to before infection spreads. Please

Take Care, Lots of Huggggssss

Hi,
I just had 2 surgeries, one general anesthesia and the other twilight over the past 2 months and my LD symptoms have not been affected at all.

They didn't care that I have lyme but did agree to continue IV abx.

Good luck

Hey there,
I'm from cleve area and had to go to dr J in hermitage...anyway...I had ear infection for about a year on and off...ENT finally told me I had athletes foot of the ear and prescribed some drops and a spray that was an antibiotic/fungal that eventually cleared it up...

As far as surgery goes I just came off of total knee replacement and had a spinal that did'nt give me a problem....previous anesthetic on other knee did make me herx when I came out of it...don't know why exactly...trauma of surgery/type of abx they used(vanco) or giving myself my own infected blood in transfusion durring operation...but it did'nt last.

I would'nt worry too much about the anesthesia it sounds more like the prudent thing to do is get rid of the infection prior to brain involvement...one infection(spirochete) up there is enough...

Ask your doctor to check into possible antibiotic/fungal nasal spray and drops to clear up the ear infection....

Operations, yes I had an unecessary full hysterectomy because I had so much pain from my waist down and after the operation it was worst and took me 3 months to recoup, then a year later I was diagnosed with lyme, which I told them from the beginning I was bit but they said I didn't have lyme and the symptoms weren't lyme, but now being educated on lyme symptoms I had every symptom down the line
