Hi, Gigi. Just wanted to let you know I got two of my three silver amalgams removed recently, and already see a huge difference. I can get to sleep and am not waking up every two hours, I didn't have a Lyme relapse despite the dental work, I'm not getting these weird dizzy spells, and I was able to march through NYC in a demonstration on Sunday despite 90 degree heat. I'm still exhausted, but that's probably from lying around the house for four years, yuck.

The Lyme is still around, but hopefully it is now a lot weaker.

Thanks so much for all your help!

Liz, So did you just instantly start feeling better? Just wandering if you can instantly start feeling better or if you have to wait until all removed and detox before noticing anything. Thanks, Robin

Liz, how is the detox going? Are you still on DMSA & NAC?

Ps. Was that you in the nude demonstration? Just kidding, LOL!

I noticed a turn around when I started taking hot bathes and then had all 14 amalgams removed...the relief was noticeable about a week or 2 later...some metals get released and are floating around for a week or 2 after.

So...keep up the low level detox until the other one is removed.

Hey, you guys.

Actually, there's been a noticeable improvement in some symptoms, but it's hard to give a real report yet, because getting dental work done did cause an inevitable Lyme relapse. But comparatively speaking, the relapse is not as bad as before: not as many fevers or fibro symptoms, just the neuro stuff, like dizziness, fog, and memory loss.

The mercury must have caused these very severe neuro symptoms, like constant fevers, anxiety, and waking up every two hours at night. Right before the Lyme relapse hit, I was sleeping much better and getting fewer fevers. I could also take twice as much DMSA without side effects.

Once some of these neuro symptoms calmed down, though, an even bigger problem became obvious: lying around for four years has a huge impact on strength, stamina, and general feelings of well-being. Without an overload of adrenaline to supply some temporary energy, I'm exhausted!

Robin, I think you are supposed to take a lot of supplements along with getting your amalgams removed. If you do a search on Gigi's posts, you'll find a lot of information on this subject. I take a prescription detox agent called DMSA, and also over-the-counter supplements N-acetyl cysteine, broken cell wall chlorella, alpha lipoic acid, and chelated minerals. Also, I take a lot of anti-inflammatory herbs and medication.

If there were any 6-foot-tall blonde supermodels in the nude demonstration, that was me.

Also, Trout, thank you for sharing your experience. It's very helpful to read that these symptoms might be mercury-related, and could be gone in two weeks. Fourteen amalgams--yikes. Hopefully, you did not have them all taken out in one day? It's impossible to imagine going through even half that. Talk about being "plastered to the couch," as TX Lyme Mom used to say.

Up.
This is important.
Hard to hear, hard to imagine that it has anything to do with Lyme, but it does.

Orion, actually my LLMD thinks there is a relationship between high metals levels & Lyme. He thinks that Lymies store metals at an alarming rate. He's seen non-Lymies who chow down tuna & sword fish, have a mouth full of amalgams, yet have normal Mercury levels.

So Liz, that was you I saw in Union Square...
Perhaps 2 celery sticks & a raddish will tide you over til dinner? LOL!

BTW Liz, Are you still on the 750 mgs of DMSA 3x pr day, 3 days on, 11 days off?

Hi, Lymelighter. I'm supposed to be taking 1500 mg, three days on, 11 days off, but the reality is more like 600mg for two days, then five days off. That's what my body can handle, and it's much more effective in reducing symptoms. Since I got the amalgams out, though, I have been able to tolerate a higher dose of DMSA, and will report back soon.

Do we by any chance have the same LLMD? Did he say anything else about the heavy metal issue?

Actually, my amalgams were so old (30 years), it doesn't matter if they were leaking mercury or not, they had to come out.

And I should say, I was showing signs of mercury toxicity long before I got Lyme. The symptoms were minor relapsing fevers and digestive problems, at first just under stress but eventually as close together as every two weeks, that got steadily worse over a period of ten years. My immune system was already weak, despite a rigorous exercise program of weight lifting, running and stretching, when I caught Lyme. I had been to many, many doctors already, and although they had prescribed Prevacid to improve the situation, they honestly had no idea what was going on. The Lyme was the last straw.

I'm not sure what you mean about the celery sticks, but they don't sound fun. But am very glad to hear you were out and about in Union Square!
