I know that having a low body temp in the AM means something but I can't quite remember what it was. I think it has something to do with thyroid activity....
Do I just take my temp before I get out of bed and record it? How many days do I need to do this in order to "prove"something? I see my LLMD on Mon.
Thanks as always!

Hi Jo - I run a normal 97 all the time ... a few times I've even registered below that.

Is there some reason why you need to take your temp in the morning? I've never heard a low-body temp having anything to do with the thyroid. I'll be interested to see what others have to offer you.

Sorry couldn't be of more help.

jo,

She gave us a form to record it on, as a convenience.

The instructions were:

1) Check temp 3 hours after getting up in the AM. Check it again 3 hours later, then again 3 hours after that. Write them down.

Example: Wake up 6am, Check temp 9am, 12pm, and 3pm

2) Use a glass thermometer, not a digital one. (The inexpensive digital ones are not accurate enough or consistant enough.)

3) Keep it under your tongue 5 minutes.

4) Do this for three days, and calculate the average of the 9 readings.

I did it for two days, got steady 97.5 readings, then got the flu! It has been swinging between 98 and 102 since. Oh well, try again later. Maybe the fever cooked some keets.

If you have a fax number I can fax you a copy of the form with the instructions.

Get your thyroid checked you may need some hormone replacement synthroid.
Lyme can cause this temp to go up and down even with out fever.

My temp for at least 20 years has been 96 or so. Plus I am always too warm...go figure!?!
I do take medicine for my thyroid as well.
Blessings,
Marblenose

Treepatrol,

Was that for me? LLMD is already on top of it, I go back Friday for lab results.

That's why I was recording body temps. I think it has been the flu the past few days, maybe on top of a herx from the Zithromax.

It seems to bwe subsiding finally.

Did your temperature change when you began thyroid medicine? What is the medicine you take? Thank you.

Leapinlizards,
I take Amour Thyroid and no, it had nothing to do with the medication. I started the meds about 4 months before I got my official diagnosis in October 2004.
Blessings,
Marblenose
