I just today got a report from my LLMD that my liver enzymes are elevated. He's sending some kind of natural remedy that he says his patients have success with. He was going to start me on a 2d abx (minocycline?) but will wait until the enzymes are back to normal. I've been on Ketek for 8 months.

I have taken several drugs that can cause liver problems. Ketek & Flagyl.

I also take a drug called Cylert for memory. Cylert very rarely is used any longer because it can cause liver failure (which is noted by LIVER FAILURE in my merk manual).

But I have never had a problem with my liver bloodwork.

I have been taking milk thistle to protect my liver for 6 yrs. now, and been on non-stop multiple abx (including 2 mo. IV rocephin, and later also used Ketek for a few months) with no real liver problems. The only time my liver enzymes elevated a bit were when I got too busy and forgot to take any of the herb for a week (& was on IV at the time). You can get it at Walmart--be sure to get a "standardized" brand, and take it 2 hrs. apart from your meds, to avoid any possible interactions (though none known to date). I take Spring Valley's (175mg each) 2 pills twice per day, two hours after meds. Germans have researched the herb thoroughly for years, and you can read more on it in the Physicians Desk Reference for Herbal Medicines.

Another good book is Herbal Solutions for Healthy Living (used by my herbalist ex boyfriend).
