I've been on antibiotics since June 2004. Prior to that I did have a problem with my skin a bit, this was due to PCOS (which in turn is probably a consequence of Lyme).
Since being on Clarithromycin and Mepron, Bicillin and then up till now on the Ketek, my skin's been clear.
Then about 10 days ago, I started to get pimples again, and my skin on my face is a bit oily.
Within this same time frame (end of female cycle and beginning of new cycle), it also coincides with my bad days that I have about every 3-4 weeks for 7-14 days.
I guess that not all abx work against zits, but the Ketek that I've been on almost 4 months seems to have kept it in check like the Biaxin and Bicillin did before, only to suddenly not keep it in check anymore AND worsening of sx generally as in fatigue worse and sore throat/ear that is persistent as well as getting 'those waves' again of feeling 'hot and bothered' a lot.
The latter could be a herx, I guess. But zits are not part of that are they?
I even started to wonder if I had purchased a counterfeit batch of Ketek and that perhaps I am taking sugar pills!!! (the pills I have do have that chemical Ketek smell about them though).
Any ideas of what could be going on? Has anyone had similar.

I don't know what is going on but I have sometingh very similar happening right now, the only diference for me is that it happened after dropping the ketek and levaquin.
I also started tx on late summer 2004, everyhting has been orals and to make the story short on July 2005 after being on mepron-ketek-bicillin-levaquin-nystatin the LLMD put me on "de-yeasting mode": bicillin, malarone, nystatin and diflucan -the diflucan only for one month-.
Since my first week on diflucan I got zits all over my cheeks, my skin was already a little bit oily but since this it got worse. Even that I had Lyme since childhood, I never had problems with acne but on my menstrual cycle and it was very minimal until now.
I will ask my LLMD next time I see him, until then lets see if somebody else has answers.
take care, Lymster in WA
