Does any one really know? If you go to all the natural sites all the do and dont eat lists are so contradictory.

One says no carbs, vinegar, nuts, dairy, fermented foods

The next one say eat plenty of unsweetened yogurt, lots of nuts, organic apple cider vinegar and naturally fermented foods like the sauerkraut you get in the fridge at health food stores

Another site listed all kind of dried beans as acceptable foods. I thought beans we hi carbs.

I keep my diet simple and have been on abx for 1 1/2 years and so far Ive had no major problems. I take lots of primal defense

Im trying to do the best I can for myself but with all these "expert" docs etc giving such diverse info its hard to know what is the best.

Im not sure anyone really knows, any and all opinions, suggestions will be appreciated. Thanks

I think one of the reasons for contradictions is that many people find it extremely difficult to do the full thing. It also depends on if you are preventing yeast or eliminating yeast. If you are eliminating yeast, you need to much stricter.

On the vinegar, apple cider vinegar is supposed to be anti-fungal. However, it does turn straight to sugar. So I would stay away from it, although I have seen it recommended topically for yeast.

I eat nuts, because I need the calories. But there are certai nuts that are more likely to have molds. Raw almonds are continually listed as one of the better nuts.

Beans are very healthy, but also high in carbs. For prevention, some beans are probably ok. For elimination, I would stay away.

The best overview of yeast defense I have read is the book "The Yeast Connection" by William Crook.

Just to confuse the issue even more for these who are not confused enough ... I don't keep diet at all and eat whatever I want. Just take some primal defense and some Candida Stop. Yesterday had some chocolate with almonds and icecreams and feel great.

I am on 4 ABX for the last 2 months (12 g of Amoxicillin per day among others).

I think Aniek hit the nail on the head!

The nuts you have to stay away from are peanuts. I eat pecans, almonds, and walnuts in moderation.

And yes, there is a difference between eliminating candida and managing it.

Here's my ND's info in case you need it.

Candida elimination:

I know what worked for me and my wife low carb diet, bread out, cereal out,pop out, beer out, sugar gone,no potatoes, beets etc and lots of acidophilis takin at the appropriate times, wife diflucan and the same diet as me.

And I can attest to a yeast infection in mouth overnight from one glass of pop while on a ceftin.

Also once while out hunting while on two combined abx's and forgot to take acidophilis and I was pi**ing lightning for three days and burning for 3 weeks, because I missed my doses of acidophilis. Iam a man didnt even think that was possible. [bonk] [Eek!] [bonk] [Eek!] [bonk]

Certain carbs a loud at like green beans yellow too. Raw carrot didnt seem to hurt and they are underground vegtables high in carbs . But I think because its harder to break down raw rather than cooked thats why no reaction ? Experiment for yourself but stayaway from over cooked carbs.
Hope that helps I took what worked for me out of Dr Atkins book.

And yogurt should be plain. Any of the flavored yogurts will have sugar...often corn syrup...or artificial sweeteners.

The regular, whole milk yogurts are better for us than the low fat or non-fat. Take the fat from dairy and you get more carbs/sugars. I find that Stoneyfield and Brown Cow taste much better than the more traditional brands.
