Yesterday, I was getting my hair cut. All of a sudden I felt sick to my stomach. I hadn't gotten a quick bite to eat prior to leaving for my diabetis. Had a back spasm first.

So I ate one of those bite size choc. candy bars. I then couldn't breath. So I went outdoors for 1-2 minutes.

Asked for a fan, but none available. NO CHEMICAL SMELLS were in the air; I won't go in if there are.

I fanned myself w/paper & asked her to cut as fast as she could as I just wanted to leave there ... just felt awful.

Came home...ATE. Felt better. Later slept. 1.5 hrs. good.

Last night, couldn't get comfy at all. Still hard to breath; stomach very queazy, couldn't sleep so watched tv till 330 am.

Got 2 hrs. of sound sleep; rest of time up/down.

Still feeling not well right now.

Any of you experience this & any ideas? I am also on ZOLOFT for depression. *(The day prior to forgot to take all my pills for ONE day??)

thanks for any help/guidance...

Possibly sugar swings? After the choc bar you felt worse. What did you eat later on? Something with less sugar?

Or a drug interaction? Have you changed meds recently?

Panic attacks are a common sign for me that I have been exposed to solvents. A beauty salon is a likley place, with hair spray, nail varnish, and all kinds of likely culprits.

For me, the panic attack often comes on during the night, after the exposure, but can happen the same day. I figured it out by looking up toxic events from solvent exposure.

Hope you are feeling better.

Lights, smells, even being away from home -- translate, "safety" -- can easily trigger these attacks. They're a very common, very classic Lyme symptom. And yes, you can get them at night when "the rest of the world" is fast asleep and you can't sleep, and it's like you're alone in the world. I used to wake up from a sound sleep gasping for air, heart pounding, all of it. Antidepressants help but I really had to take regular tranquilizers. Things like this, along with other Lyme symptoms, come and go, wax and wane.

Johnny, no, I have changed NO meds lately but am cuting down right now to PHASE OUT BENICAR which I have been on since 8-04.

When I cut home, I had a slice of water melon; yes, used salt too! Felt much better than.

Others....Thanks for your other comments. I've never felt this way before; very claustrophic!

Tonight, I had to get the air flowing around me & opened windows for cold winds to come in. Still do not feel up to par.

Don't feel bad, I always needed to take a xanax whenever I went to the hair salon. I am better now, but it was rough going and no going there for many years! you are not alone!
