Maybe this has already been discussed, but if not, thought you guys would want to know about this.....

Dear Friends,

As a result of tests run at recent annual physical, it was
discovered that I have an early stage of prostate cancer.

Because the cancer is not high grade and appears to be localized,
and because I am not overweight, in very excellent physical
condition, and "young" (can you believe that I am considered to be
young???), the treatment of choice is surgery. I have an excellent
chance (95%) of being cured!

Ironically, I continue to feel absolutely fine, and am as feisty as
ever. I am not at all afraid of surgery- if I could survive the
OPMC, I can survive anything! HA!! My tough Sicilian constitution,
plus the excellent support that I have from everyone will guarantee
a rapid and full recovery.

I will enter the hospital after the Lyme conference, and will not
be in my office for the month of November. My office will remain
open, and the patients will be seen by my PAs, Annemarie and Jerry.
I will be available to them, when able, by phone to confer on cases
at their discretion. I trust that my loyal patients will be pleased
to know that we will continue to be there for them and their Lyme
needs. I do apologize for the many changes in the office appointment
schedule that will be necessary because of this.

I am announcing this publicly, to let all my friends out there
know, and to be as open as possible. I DO NOT want any dumb rumors
to be spread ("Dr. B. has ice cream poisoning again", or "Dr. B. is
having a tummy tuck", etc.). Therefore, while I have absolutely no
objection to having this e-mail forwarded, I sincerely request that
this be sent fully intact to keep this original message from
becoming distorted.

In the meantime, I want to remind you that I have some dynamite
presentations planned at the upcoming conferences in Philly (LDA and
ILADS), so be sure to come! Check out their websites for full
details, and also note that I just updated my "Guidelines" for the
first time in three years! It is already posted on the ILADS site,
and will be on the LDA site as soon as I get my disc sent off to
them.

So, that's the news- I promise to keep everyone posted on any new
developments.

Be well, and remember to have your PSA checked!!!

Love to all, from

Dr. B............................!
