The topic of the two Dr Js in trouble with authorities really makes me angry.
I think of the gross misdiagnosies my husband and I received by our "popular" ID doctor, my gross misdiagnosis following a two day emergency room episode, and my near death (a minute or two near) experience in our hospital because the attending Dr. was annoyed I had an order from a NY doctor for emergency pain medication, and gave me something else...what HE thought would be good enough...which I had an allergic reaction to... and eventually had to fly to a NY hospital for help.
My husband filed claims about all of these episodes with the state medical board. Each Dr. in the hospital received a private warning. Nothing happened to the ID doctor. NO CHALLENGE OF any of THEIR BEHAVIORS....NO THREAT OF LICENSE REVOKING...NO LETTER IN THE PAPER.
I suppose it all comes down to the problem of lack of knowledge, lack of reliable testing, etc.
But it sure seems like the "authorities" are VERY VERY EAGER to GOBBLE UP those maverics who stand alone in a field littered with cow piles.
