I'm new in the neighborhood here and am being treated at Fibromyalgia and Fatigue Centers. Recently DX w/Lyme, and have some questions, looking for info.
I cannot have alcohol, and the Cumanda tincture is formulated w/alcohol. I asked my Dr. if I could put the drops in hot water to volitalize the alcohol, and she did not recommend that I do that. However, so far, we haven't found a replacement for it.
So, does anyone here know of a good quality Cumanda in another form, maybe preserved differently, or possibly in capsules, that you would recommend?
I think that the Burbur and Samento have the same problem. Any alternatives available?
Thanks so much. When I know more, I'll try to help you out as well!
Best wishes, Hopeful4

I have not seen Cumanda available anywhere except from Nutramedix. Email [email protected] and ask them for advice. I know that they do have Samento in a capsule or you could get Enzymatic Therapy Saventaro, but as for Cumanda, I've only seen the tincture. Good luck

ask if there is a glycerol(glycerin) based product.
if sol, then get a cp james duke's book, or other herb book, that gives a receipe for extracting the effective agent(s) form the herb with vinegar, water, or glycerin. its a fairly simple process.

Hopeful4: Raintree cat's claw comes in capsules.
Stephen Buhner's book, "Healing Lyme," recommends Raintree's cat's claw, and explains why. The book is available at Amazon for $13.57. http://www.amazon.com/
A bottle of 100 Raintree cat's claw capsules sells for $10.00 to $13.95, depending on bulk. http://www.rain-tree.com/
Hope this helps. Carol

I finally emailed the manufacturer of the tincture and received a quick reply.
They are not able to comment on my medical condition. They did address my questions regarding the alcohol extracts.
I asked about the capsules as a substitute. They said that they are not as effective as the liquid extract and they are much more expensive.
I asked about volatilizing the alcohol in hot water. They say it is possible to deplete the alcohol from the extract by using water that does not exceed 105 degrees F.
You should mix the drops with warm water. Let it sit for at least 10 minutes and most of the alcohol will be depleted. As long as the water does not exceed 105 degrees F the action of the extract will not be affected.
Also, their liquid extracts are always diluted in water, and the dosage ranges from 1 drop to 25 drops. 25 drops mixed in 4 ounces of water has an alcohol content of less than one half of one percent. They say that many ripe fruits contain far more alcohol than this.
Just wanted to pass this on to the next person who needs the info.

pq, That's a great suggestion about using the thermometer...how else would I know it's at the right temp? I'm glad your brain is working! Thanks.
