Korinne,
I would say call your doctor. In the meantime, take an antihistamine just in case. If worse, call 911.
Intersting you post this right now as I posted just last night about my experience with Penicillin yesterday, which were a sudden bout of palpitations, agitation, weird 'waves' through my chest that was like a pressure too, feeling faint momentarily with seeing 'black edges' around my vision for a second, and flushing. I was told by on call emergency doc that this is an allergic reaction. I am checking with my LLMD in the meantime, don't take anymore until you've talked to your doc about this.
It is scary.
Let us know what happens and how you're doing.

To answer the original question...yes you can herx from penicilin.
The best advice I have seen in a long time was printed above...take an anti-histamine and call your Doc.
