Many thanks to all of you who responded to my query. I failed to mention that my daughter was bitten by the tick in Rhode Island, then we returned to the UK, where we live, the next day. As LB is not so well-known here, I brought Dr. Burrascano's guidelines as well as the suggestions from this forum to our doctor. She admitted not knowing much about Lyme, was very open and receptive to the information I provided, and agreed readily to prescribe amoxicillin. However, she was only willing to prescribe the maximum dose for our daughter's age -- 750mg/day -- and not for her weight as Dr. B recommends in his guidelines (which would be
50mg x 20kg = 1000mg/day). Is this difference of 250mg/day something worth making a fuss about? Our doctor is concerned that the higher dose could cause stomach inflammation and diarrhea. Again, I am very grateful for the concerned responses I have received.

Hi John... I'll let those with children or knowledge of that answer you. It could make alot of difference.

Be SURE to get some good quality acidophilus for your daughter and give it to her two hours before or two hours after the antibiotics.

I would suggest taking it twice a day. If you have trouble working it around the abx, then give it to her at bedtime.

Hope she does well....and we're here for you anytime!! [hi]
