Hi everyone,

Is babesia killed daily when on babesia meds?
One would then herx all the time?

unlike lyme which pretty much is only killed every 28 days, I found this very true for myself later on in lyme treatment,

I am trying to figure out if I am still in a herx from the babesia antibiotics.
Has anyone stopped antbiotics due to a herx from babesia meds, and how long did you have to stop them, until the herx ended?

I recall reading on the internet, a LLMD saying that it took some a month to come out of a herx especially with babesia or only babesia.
Not sure how true this is, so asking here.
Liver tested fine, kidneys too, now in for a gallbladder test.

I feel still after 2 weeks OFF babesia meds I am herxing, the herxing is in cyles all day.
It has gotten better, though,

I have had untreated babesia for years, it could be 20 years or more, maybe a little less.

thanks,

Trish

I am not completly sure of this answer . I imagine that there are other people more learned on me on this board. Babesia is an intracellular red blood parasite. By the very nature of the organism , it is different than a spriochete as lyme and therefore responds to different medications such as zithromax and mepron. Babs divides by binary fission and invades a red blood cell, whose average life span is 120 days. I am not sure about the penetration rates, daily killoff, and herxs or refraction to medicine. Journal of Clinical microbiology may be a good place to look for answers. There are many strains of babs and with lyme, not sure of the antagonist reactions between the two organisms and victim immune system. Will try to look up more information, that I can give you a more definitive answer.

from what I know there does not seem to be any clear understanding of babesia especially when in relation to other tick born illnesses.

I know for my own self that I herxed for a good 3 weeks OFF of mepron/zith. DAILY. as you said, I had fevers and dizziness cycling thru each day. I had to stop mepron/zith because I fainted at work from it. Took me a full month to regain to where I had been. I am restarting mepron/zith for my third time this week.

Which meds were you on and what were your sx?
