I started taking Resveratrol (Polygonum) last night -- it was highly recommended in the Buhner protocol.
100mg/ once at night and in the morning.
But this afternoon, feel undeniably awful: fever, headache, low energy, brain fog and dizzy.
Could this be a herx ? Has anyone else had this reaction to Resveratrol? thanks for any feedback on this. Maybe it is a relapse?

Resveratrol is produced by plants as an antifungal chemical. It is found in the skin of grapes, in peanuts, blueberries, some pines, such as Scots pine and eastern white pine, and the roots and stalks of giant knotweed and Japanese knotweed, called hu zhang in China. Resveratrol was first isolated from an extract of the Peruvian legume Cassia quinquangulata in 1974.
The amount of resveratrol in food substances varies greatly. Red wine contains approximately 5 mg/L, depending on the grape variety, whilst white wine has much less - the reason being that red wine is fermented with the skins, allowing the wine to absorb the resveratrol, whereas white wine is fermented after the skin has been removed.
Since it has antifungal properties it may be killing yeast? Also anti viral?

I started taking Resveratrol, but in much higher doses. I was taking 2 tabs three times a day. I do remember feeling bad, but then it made a dramatic difference. Hang in there. I would stay the course.

Thank you treepatrol for the information, and atypes for the encouragement!
I will stick with this Reservatrol for a while. Just got my Stephania in the mail today too.
That is interesting that Reservatrol is an antifungal. Which might explain my reaction to it. Certainly all the amoxicillin as left me with some fungal issues --my tongue has gone from pink, to white, to dark green, to black (gross, sorry, but it is true), back to pink after Diflucan, back to white -- over the past 6 weeks.
I guess the abx knocks out the normal flora and fauna.
But what is a little black hairy tongue compared to neuro-lyme?

After hubby took his first dose -- one capsule -- of Resveratrol he felt so bad I made him wait a week to try again. He had gotten his dose up to 6 capsules at one time, but is currently taking only 2 or 3 capsules.
Definitely hang in there and see if this doesn't help a lot once you adjust to it.
Wait to start the Stephania a little later. Tried this as a very weak tea with hubby and it made him vomit. Need to make up some capsules and try this again.
Also, the one herb that Buhner recommends that most people have the most problem with is Andrographis. Hubby has never gotten beyond 2 capsules of this I think.
