I'd been doing so well with lyme and all of a sudden feel like I've relapsed some. My back has been a problem for many years and recently I started doing PT.

Physical therapist said with stabilization exercises he's giving me I could flare up in different areas. The inside of my knee and right ankle have been hurting (ankle has been a problem). I mentioned it to the PT Monday and he said the only thing he found were small lumps in the knee and ankle area.

What would cause a small lump other than lyme? I'm suspecting lyme but just wondering. I've been using Farah's essential oils and vaguely remember her saying how certain areas were a problem with the oils.

My husband had bad knee problems due to the Lyme. He could barely walk down our stairs in the AM before he finally sought treatment. He has been treated for Lyme for 9 months and says he hasn't felt this great in ten years. Recently he went on a golf trip and couldn't believe great he was feeling while the other guys were complaining their knees, ankles and back hurt from walking so much.

I know a number of others with the knee and ankle pain including my 11 year old son. He seems to have pain in the ankles every now and then for no apparent reason. He is being treated for Lyme which is why I'm guessing the pain goes away.
I also know of a 10 year old child that has had extreme problems with his ankles. He can barely walk at times and can no longer play football as the exercise irritates it.

Of course, your problems could be a result of a number of things but its worth seeing a lyme literate doctor and be evaluated. Don't forget, lyme is a clinical diagnosis and you can't base whether you have lyme on the blood tests alone.

Severe knee pain was my first symtpom. It started about 18 months after my bite. My knee got so inflamed I couldn't straighten it.

I also get ankle pain. I first got pain inside my ankle a few months after I sprained it. The ortho specialist wanted to perform surgey, because he thought it didn't heal properly.

"Luckily" I couldn't get the surgery because I had been misdiagnosed with tendinitis in my hands so I couldn't be on crutches for two weeks. The pain eventually went away, but it does come back when I flare.

My personal, non-medically educated, opinion is that you still have something going on if you have all this pain. I don't always think it's Lyme. It could be a coinfection, or it could be that your body still isn't healed from the Lyme.

I started working with a doctor who uses alternative therapies, mostly supplements and herbs, to get my system back up and running.
