Oxy,
Thanks for providing this information. I would really like to read the book.
As you know, my first LLMD diagnosed chronic lyme and treated me homeopathically. The remedies he used were monitored and approved by the FDA. They were superbly effective with my neurological lyme symptoms ie: migraines, shortterm memory loss, mental confusion, hearing and stiff neck. Also ended frequent hot flashes.
Only the arthritis did not subside and in fact, excerbated. I turned in another direction and under another doctor began dealing with issues of Leaky Gut Snydrome and extreme Heavy Metal Toxicity. I'm making very good progress.
There is no question the homeopathy cured many of my lyme symptoms. Only the stiff neck has returned to plague me.
I often wonder if that doctor would have uncovered my LGS and H.M. toxicity, would he have had a good remedy for it as well?
In addition, the cost of the homeopathy was very minor compared to all I have done since then.

Homeopathics for heavy metal detox per se is not recommended.
The subject among the knowledgable doctors is no longer for discussion. Hasn't been for years. It does not work and/or effects are bad.
One of the causes of Leaky Gut Syndrome (LGS) is heavy metals/mercury.
Have you explored Galactose for your condition?
I was in Germany recently and heard again a lot of talk by the doctors who are using it in almost any situation, especially Rheumat A, - even well people who are just trying to counter the stress of everyday life. I take it myself and so is my husband. We both love what it does for us. We take little else. I have posted about Galactose a number of times.
Take care.

The last two months I have taken Biopure's homeopathic Lyme & co-infection nosode. I did have a week of off/on knee and shin pain.
I want to take this homeopathic package, a handout of Zhang's protocol, and Cowden's protocol to my llmd to see what my llmd recommends since I am off abx. I haven't seen this doc for three months.
Of course there is Buhner's protocol, also.

Thanks Oxygenbabe!
I also used (and am using) homeopathics since I started my treatment more than a year ago.
Lots of different ways to use it. My lyme doctor uses it to balance organs through ART (works like magic, soooo fast and strong effect in the first days/ weeks).
My 'normal' doctor uses only classic homeopathy though, he did homeopathic lymphatic drainage (worked well), and uses a few things for relieving symptoms. He doesn't get the right substance all the time (he doesn't know ART!!), but the average is good (he's got decades of experience...).
So homeopathy was (and is) for me a great help with lyme. Even though there are not the many nosodes here for co-infections like in the US, that I know... Only borrelia burgdorferi.
I wonder what kind of homeopathy the book suggests and if he has experience with lyme patients...
Thanks for sharing,
Selma

Scott, I really did not mean to bring in Galactose into this thread, except I always think of it when I see Luvs' posts and her problems with RA. I know it is very effective for RA. Sorry.
For those interested, I will add my thoughts re Scott's mention of Intramax and Galactose:
Since I am on Galactose, I have looked at the Intramax a while back and think it contains a type of galactose, but only a limited amount.
The normal daily intake (therapeutic) of Galactose is 9000 mg per day for a month (3 tiny spoons) ; then some people lower the intake; some stay at the same level as indicated by remaining symptoms. Some people have an enormous requirement for cell repair material and need a kickstart for cell metabolism, stability of cell walls, to facilitate detox that hasn't worked for probably years.
For me, the most noticable aspect is long and short-term memory, long hours of concentrating ability, able to stick with projects to conclusion. It has a tremendous influence on the nervous system!
I have not tried Intramax, but I am sure it is a good product for those who are still nutrient deficient. I tend to think that many of us are swimming in an overload of nutrients and the problems lie elsewhere -- i.e. weakened and damaged cell membranes, receptors, etc. I don't think there is enough galactose in Intramax to really be effective as building supply for repair functions to reactivate cell/metabolism successfully.
Sorry again - but hope Luvs reads this.
Take care.

Selma--he uses aurum arsenicum. Interestingly the alchemical symbol for the remedy (gold) looks sort of like a bullseye rash and sort of like a spirochete!!!!
It's a really great book imo, blends biology, evolution, philosophy, miasms, homeopathy. Worth reading just for its insights.

I've found a little more info about the book (which I plan to get, BTW - thanks so much for posting about this, Oxygenbabe).
There is also a Table of Contents (below), and I see that the author uses some of the information that Frans Vermeulen has put together. I'll also post the sources that Vermeulen used for his homeopathic information regarding Lyme Disease in his own book, and I think you will like most of what you see in his sources (some came from LymeNet and some from ILADS!).
We are very pleased to present the English translation of Peter Alex's book on the "Homeopathic treatment of Lyme Disease," first published in German in 2005. The importance of this work cannot be overstated. In addition to the clarity of the author's presentation on the usefulness of Homeopathy in the treatment of Lyme disease, we also are gifted with his insight into the nature of epidemic disease, our positive interrelationship with bacteria and the trouble that may result whenever we disregard nature's laws. Written for the homeopath as well as the lay person interested in getting to the cause of illness, this booklet contains a wealth of philosophical information as well as cogent practical advice for the treatment of Lyme disease.
This book also includes cases of Lyme disease by several highly respected homeopaths, including Bill Gray, MD, Howard Fine, ND, Beth Rotundo, Homeopath, Matthias Richter, ND, Rocco Kirch, ND, Jens Kirchner, Veterinarian and Naturopathic Physician, Alize Timmerman, Homeopath...

Gigi, you have said this many times in the past. I have been unable to confirm this, although I have tried doing several searches.
Generally speaking, the homeopathic community would disagree with you, so I would be grateful if you could provide me with any links or sources you may have for this information.
Thanks -
Also, last I read any threads here about Galactose, I thought there was no U.S. supplier of it. Has that changed?

Truthfinder,
Reference to homeopathics for heavy metal detox --
"Gigi, you have said this many times in the past. I have been unable to confirm this, although I have tried doing several searches.

Truthfinder, you might have to search the internet. But I would guess that you will find as many opinions on that as with heavy metal detox in general. I do not know who the General Homeopathic community is - I would be interested to know what they and how the deal with heavy metal, esp. the various mercury types, modalities that are successful, permanently. I am sure Dr. K. would be very interested. That's his life's work. Please let me know if you have details.
I first learned from Dr. K. in 1998 that homeopathic treatment for mercury does not work, because I was using it!!!!!! on my own before I learned more. He told me that the community of doctors who are practicing on a daily basis in this field have finally reached a consensus that it does not work, especially for mercury. I know that the discussions went on for several years until finally agreed that homeopathic mercury does not remove mercury from the brain. I have only heard repetitions of the same thing since then. I came to him with the brainfog of all brainfogs after trying homeopathic mercury on my own or as recommended by others. It took me a l o n g time to get rid of it.
I have not seen Dr. K. in a long time, but will ask him next chance I have if he has changed his methods. I am in contact with many of his patients and have not heard otherwise. It's the good old fashioned DMSA and/or DMPS or Ca EDTA, or some other variations.
Dr. K. utilizes homeopathics in many instances when treating chronic disease. He has treated me in 1998 with a homeopathic for Lyme that he had someone make for me, from the real thing in the back woods. I took it for several months. I am now well, but I do know that it was not brought about by the Lyme nosodes, etc. They did not even make a dent into my misery.
Someone may have come up with a solution for that in the meantime. I do not know. I have not seen the book Oxygenbabe talks about, and I am sure it is important to know about.
My recovery from a severe case of Lyme and 5 co-infections, I attribute to short term antibiotics, longterm periods of herbal products (great variety - never the same), and longterm body cleanup, on all levels, especially the dental aspects.
You might have to search the internet, but I would think that the opinions vary as widely in this field as they do with mercury toxicity problems in general. Amazingly some people still think it causes no problems.
I hope you find your answers, Truthfinder.
Take care.

Thanks so much for your response, Gigi. Now I understand why I have been confused in the past by certain statements.
I don't want to clobber up this thread with too much here about heavy metals, but...
quote:I first learned from Dr. K. in 1998 that homeopathic treatment for mercury does not work, because I was using it!!!!!! on my own before I learned more...... I know that the discussions went on for several years until finally agreed that homeopathic mercury does not remove mercury from the brain.
Well, of course it doesn't!! There's the basic problem: This is NOT homeopathy.
Dr. K. - and presumably his fellow docs who came to these conclusions - are trying to practice ``isopathy'', not homeopathy. You cannot state that ``homeopathy does not work'' for something-or-other if you insist on using it in an isopathic manner.
If the patient's symptoms do not match the ``remedy picture'' of Mercury, taking homeopathic Mercury will do little or nothing to help get rid of the metal.
The same goes for the use of nosodes. They can be very helpful when properly used, but unless your symptoms match the symptom picture of a healthy person who takes that same nosode, it will not effect a healing or a permanent cure of a chronic problem.
If you get exposed to poison ivy, you don't automatically reach for a remedy made from poison ivy (Rhus-tox.) There are actually much better remedies out there to completely eliminate the effects of the poison ivy.
Let me give some examples of what experienced homeopaths have stated on other threads when asked specifically about heavy metal detox. (And these homeopaths have studied under some of the best - Robin Murphy, Luc DeSchepper, S.K. Banerjea, Alan Schmukler.):
quote:``Correct the pH balance of the human blood by giving proper diet and use homeopathy to treat the presenting individual symptoms and the disease or problem goes away.''
``The best homeopathic approach is complete case taking and then selecting the similar remedy.''
``The homeopathic remedy chosen according to the symptom profile will produce detox.''
And here's what my own homeopath has said to the same type of question:
quote:``To think we should go one by one and take homeopathic remedies-- mercury, for example-- on an assumption about the inevitable presence of mercury in the body, rather than on the presence of actual symptoms of mercury, would be a foolish use of homeopathy.
``But, here's an actual case for you. A man came to a homeopath, my friend Alan, with all the symptoms of Argent-nit. , which is homeopathic Silver Nitrate. Alan asked him about his job. It turns out that part of his work consisted of using silver nitrate. This man was "proving" silver nitrate, he had all the symptoms: anxiety, agoraphobia and so on. Needless to say, he was cured by the very thing that caused his problem. ``
(I didn't print any names since I don't have permission to do so.)
As further evidence, I've found some specific remedies used in heavy metal problems by practicing homeopaths, and in no case was the remedy the same as the metal being detoxed. That's because homeopathy treats the person, not the ``disease'':
Cadmium-ox. - Aluminum Hepar-sulph. - Mercury Asernicum-alb. - Lead
There are some amazing homeopathic combination products being produced in Germany that may prove to be extremely helpful in treating specific ``problems'', like heavy metals. But that isn't ``classical homeopathy'', and therefore most homeopaths are taking the ``wait and see'' approach until more articles and studies have been done. But I think it looks very promising.
I'd better quit here.
By the way, I ordered Peter Alex's book two days ago. Looking forward to reading it. Thanks again, Oxygenbabe.

GiGi,
Thanks for the heads up on Galactase. I read up on it but couldn't figure out how I'm supposed to obtain it.
I do eat tons of dark green leafy veggies and I take 2 tbsps Aloe Vera Juice morning and night which is supposed to be full of the polysacharides (sp?) one of which I think I correctly understand is Galactase.
So far, quite frankly, none of the traditional RA stuff (well, of course, I'm not taking the immune suppressing drugs yet)seems to work for me. Epsom salt baths, vinegar and honey drink, clay baths, InFared Sauna all put me into bone jarring hello.
I even had an internist examine me recently and he kept saying, "where are your swollen joints?" I could see he doubted my RA diagnosis. I laughed and said "Please tell me I don't have RA. It won't hurt my feelings."
Doesn't stop the fact that two things can knock me down ultra quick. 1-Any attempt to detox. 2-Veering off an incredibly bland diet.
I do believe metals are a major source of my troubles and it certainly appears I am moving into full blown celiac disease. What bugs are sheltering behind the metals remains to be seen.

Luvs, hate to bring Galactose here. But here it goes.
Galactose for therapeutic use is not much older than about 2 years. You won't find it in any textbook. I suggest you pull up my old thread and read what I posted about it. The discovery recently was almost by coincident.
You will have to eat 10 pounds of apples a day to get the galactose in that amount. You can order it in Germany - many people do. But do read my posts first. The information I posted comes straight from the scientist and doctor who are using it in their practice every day. The scientist Dr. R. Reutter at the Berlin University is a Nobel Prize Candidate.
The rest is up to you. You may contact me for info to order Galactose, it's not available in this country in that 99.9% pure form. [email protected].
You might also investigate the LED detox method done with a laser and a vial containing the necessary material. Treatment is very, very effective and quick. The world of detox is changing every day. It has been discussed here on this board with names mentioned and I will not repeat it now.
Take care.

Luvs, thanks for brining up the galactose again. I am interested in this, and glad Gigi replied to your post.
One other thought on the homeopathic detoxification of heavy metals:
Gigi has told us many times about not only the importance of removing heavy metals, but that it is crucial that it be done at the right time and in the right manner to avoid some potentially-serious problems.
This actually fits perfectly with classical homeopathy.
I read somewhere about a homeopathic case where the patient had a serious disorder - something like MS or Lupus or Hepatitis C - something that mainstream medicine had done little to help. It was determined early on that this patient had high Mercury levels.
The patient went through a number of remedies, slowly peeling away the layers of ``trauma'', in reverse order of their appearance, and lo and behold, eventually the patient exhibited most of the symptoms of..... Mercury!
To me, this shows how classical homeopathic treatment leads the practitioner to remove the recent obstacles that are in the way of arriving at the underlying ``etiology'' of the patient's suffering, without forcing the patient's body to try to do something it cannot yet handle.
