I am taking Doxy twice daily at 100 mg. I have taking this for about 10 days.

Does anyone know how this stuff is suppose to make me feel? Will I feel better? Then Herx? or Just Herx?

I have had a cold for the past 5 days and I NEVER catch colds, and in the past when I have I will only have them for a few days. [bonk]

I am just unsure what this stuff is doing for my system.

Since I started Doxy, my muscles have become significantly weaker.

Can anyone tell me their experiences with Doxy?

Hi,
Doxy dosing should b 300-400mg per day. Do you have a good LLMD? Why only 10 days? Please read Dr. Burrascano's treatment guidelines for dosing of antibiotics and duration: http://www.ilads.org/burrascano_0905.html

Doxy should not be taken within an hour or two (before and after taking) of any dairy products, calcium, magnesium and more as it binds to it, making it less effective.

Stay out of the sun - even the slightest sun exposure can cause severe sun burn. If in the sun, wear a hat and cover up as much as possible.

I have heard of people burning even with the strongest sun blocks and even while driving if your arm is resting on the window edge etc.

If it upsets your stomach make sure to eat with (non-dairy) meal.

Take care.

I have not been treating with abx and have been doing very well.

Recently though I had heartburn and indicators my HP ulcer was back, so my D.O. prescribed biaxin and amoxicillan for 2 weeks. I herxed significantly the entire two weeks.

About a month later, I am bitten by a tick again (see my recent post) and I incur flu like symptoms, fever and increased joint pain. Dr gives me 2 weeks doxy at 200mg daily.

No herxing whatsoever. Strange.

skyler, start your daily record log of ANY/ALL symptoms as they start and STOP.

i was taking same dosage but was pulsed w/biaxin 500 twice a day for 3 days; 2 off; then doxy 200 day for 3 days; 2 days off;

then started routine again.

did you receive a recent 50+ page newbie's links, advise from me? i have extensive info there on eye sensitivity, etc.

plus long list of symptoms & a chart plus much more...

if you didn't get it, PM me; go to my post, and chose 2 people standing together; that's a private message; ask me to send you my newbie's links in subject; you'll get it that day or next! good luck [Wink]

I also started w/ doxy 100mg twice daily. Like you, it was around day 5 that I began having cold like symptoms, sore throat, runny nose, aches/pain, etc.

About two weeks into it, I felt horrible. It lasted several days and then I gradually began feeling better. I figured I was herxing because about four weeks later it happened again and it's continued to cycle like that.

Doxy can be very hard on the stomach so be sure you're taking care of yourself with some very good probiotics. After you take it, don't lay down for at least 30 minutes. It can cause heartburn. I've been taking Zantac 300mg once daily during my course of doxy and it has helped tremendously.

A lot of people and LLMDs seem to think 200mg of doxy isn't a high enough dosage to treat for lyme. Others would disagree. It depends on what your body can handle and how you respond to treatment. Sometimes slow and steady wins the race. Good luck.

Thank you all so much for your help.

PBizzle,
Your story is sounding EXACTLY like mine. Thats why I decided to write this post. I did not know if i got this cold because of the antibiotics, and then what effects are the antibiotics and then what are abx. It is interesting I seem to be experiencing the same thing... we wull see I guess.

I have another appointment with my doctor on wednesday, she is an infectious disease specialist, but not too lyme literate... I might get some answers from her about this. Also on my blood work (I have vitamin d deficancy, ect.)

I do have an appointment some time soon with a really good LLMD. thank god.

Its just with this weird cold, I do not know what is abx caused or if it is related...

So far I have not gotten a positive on a lyme test, I have only had the ****ty tests done at the local quest diagnostics (REALLY bad labs in FL, I hear they are better in other states...)

My not so LLMD decided to put me on the Doxy to see if I respond... but I dont know what if I am or not cause of this realy bad cold.

I now have REALLY bad muscle weakness, but not soo much burning, killer joint pain.

again, thank you guys so much!!! and more post most welcome.
