JUST FYI I thought I should do a heads up,
just occurred to me because of a post re a
taste disorder- because those can be caused by malnutrition- that there is actually ONE DEATH on the Lyme Memorial page whose autopsy showed she had died of MALNUTRITION- she was unable to eat because of chronic nausea and literally her life would have been saved by one simple meal a day containing the normal nutrients we need to live- iron, potassium & magnesium- literally some tuna fish and a banana would have saved her LIFE. SO, those of oyu on Lyme diets or those of you with bad nausea, MAKE sure you eat basic minerals and substances we needs as humans to live.

Just a thought-
Marry Christmas!!!
Happy Belated Hannukah!!!
Merry Diwali*)!!!

EAT EAT EAT*)!*!*)!!
Sincerely,
Sarah

My LLMD recently put me on a protein shake because I was losing weight. I'm at my borderline weight, if I lose any more weight I'll be underweight.

I definitely have an inability to absorb nutrients from the years of Lyme. I started a modified Myers Cocktail a number of months ago which really helps. For those who are not absorbing nutrients, consider getting them through IV.

I also tested my amino acids which were extremely low. I've been supplementing for almost 2 years now. My levels are higher, but still not sufficient. If you are deficient in amino acids, you cannot break down protein. You need to supplement.

I also found out my nausea was caused by food sensitivities. Lemon was one of the biggest culprits for me.

I too have a problem w/ weight loss.

To the point it is really concerning me.

It seems like you can't eat much food that will keep weight on when you are taking ABX,.

I look at those Protein shakes and they seeem to be loaded w/ sugar. Its always in the back of my mind that i can't eat it. This is a prevailing thought process for me

In fact i over think everything these days to the point of making myself crazy.

Not being well after 2 years and seemingly getting worse of late is taking a serious toll on my body

The protein shake my doctor has me take is sweetened with stevia. It's almost all protein, no sugar.

It's called Medicalicious and it's made by Balance Nutraceuticals. www.balancederm.com

If you are losing weight to an unhealthy point, and trying to eat a very low carb diet, then you really should reconsider the diet. Talk to your doctor about it. It doesn't help to fight of yeast if you have malnutrition.

I found the herb Cumanda works incredibly well at fighting yeast and allowing you to not follow a diet. If I followed a yeast diet I wouldn't eat anything. My stomach can't handle much besides carbs, and I think the amount of medications I've taken is the reason.

I buy it at my doctor's office, but that website was on the container.

My Daughter has been through 2 real severe times that she couldn't eat..........Eating is always a problem. Her LLMD told her to just eat whatever she could keep down, not to worry about the low yeast diets. The diets won't help if you starve to death.

If you go to an oriental food store or to Wild Oats they have those young coconuts. They have so much good nuitrition. Do a google on Young Coconuts. My daughter literally lived on those, carrot juice and some powder Suppliment called

Inflamix she got from her LLMD. It kept her alive for about 6 months one time and the next time it happened it was also for several months.

It isn't the best diet, but if you could just add these things in with whatever you can keep down they will help you. I don't reccomend trying to just live on these things as it is hard on your body.

It was all my daughter could keep down so it was better than nothing. Not the best for the anti yeast diet, but if you are dead from malnutrition it really doesn't matter.

You can make pudding out of the coconuts and make sure and drink the milk.

HUGS,

I was eating probably 6 high calorie meals a day out of pure desperation, but I still couldn't get my weight above 88 lbs. At the very least, I had an egg allergy, which only seemed to complicate my Lyme, babs, and I'm thinking ehrlichia, because the diarrhea continued until I was put on minocycline.

I'm actually surprised I had seen probably a dozen doctors before one (a rheumatologist) actually diagnosed me with "malnutrition". I still can't believe my doctors could not SEE I was not absorbing any nutrition. That's scary.

Even the doctor who diagnosed me with malnutrition told me if I lost one more pound, he would have to put me on tube feedings. I can't believe there was only one pound between me and malnutrition. Doctors need to stop staring at numbers and start looking at their patients instead.

Tailz, i was very much like you. 1000 calorie breakfast and dropping weight very fast. My coworkers noticed, the doctors did not.

One LLMD said he never hat a pt complain that they were loosing weight, it was new to him...he said I looked good....that was at 94lbs I quickly dropped to 88 :-(

im loosing again now and worried...i can feel my ribs again :-( Im on Malarone, but havent tested postive for any coinfections but myco pnumonia. who knows.

I agree dr should look at patients more....one dr wrote a letter to my PCP saying i was a well nourished young woman, that was at 100lbs...but I was so frail...

My ideal weight would be 110....wish i could get back there.

One of my doctors seemed to just want to accuse me of trying to lose weight - I guess all the psych meds were 'proof' that if I looked anorexic, I must therefore be starving myself to death intentionally.

Most doctors never really commented on my weight though - one just tried to solve it by slapping an estrogen patch on me.

I'm not sure what you're eating, but I had an egg allergy - I was able to get my weight up to my normal low weight by eliminating eggs. I was not able to get it up any further though without minocycline. Have you been on minocycline?

I'm actually around 110 right now. I think my ideal weight is about 100 though - maybe 105 tops. I never thought I'd think I was fat, but my canned peas diet must be helping in that regard;)

I recently cut out carbs except for fruit and dairy...

nothing with added sugar.

At first the new diet was absolutely killing my stomach cuz I have gastroparesis and most of the things I can eat now are harder to digest...

So I have to be careful how many hard hard to digest stuff I eat.

I have a protien powder I mix into a drink. It is sweetened with stevia. It also has no cholesterol ..some of those protien supplements have alot of cholesterol.

Consuming the high protien diet my weight is holding at 107 and I am 5'5 so I really needed to keep from losing weight. It would be hard for me to get enough protien for me without the supplement. I can only eat so much volume of food.

I also found a digestive enzyme that seems to be helping with the nausea.

Hopefully it will continue to help.

Anyone on a lyme diet should be getting the vitamins and minerals they need, not the opposite.

Lyme diet doesn't mean starvation. Nor should it be a mono-diet of just a few foods. It does mean cutting out white sugar, processed foods and eating lots of veggies, fruits (low sugar fruits are best) and some meat if you can tolerate it.

Be aware that research has linked red meat and pork to certain cancers.

Buy a juicer and a good juicing book and juice your nutrients. A book I like is "Juicing for Life".

A glass of fresh vegetable juice will supply you with your daily requirements and it will be absorbed quickly into the bloodstream therefore, even those of us with compromised guts will absorb the nutrients better.

This method of nutrition is far superior to supplements.

Also eat as much raw fruits and veggies as you can because cooking does kill the enzymes which we need for digestion.

All of the above assumes you are able to eat. If you are suffering so much nausea you can't eat, then get to a hospital for IV's of nutrition.
