Hi Betty!

I was so excited to read it once I read your post I just started reading and didn't stop 'til I was done!

Money management is a subject that has interested me so much for the past years, mostly because in the past I found myself in an incredibly horrible situation and was about to lose my house.

I had very bad money habits also. Then, I had sort of an epiphany moment when I decided that I was going to take control of my finances, instead of letting them control me. And it worked! Since then I have remained committed to learning how to handle money.

What I loved about the Suze Orman book is that her writing style is very clear. She doesn't beat around the bush. Very straightforward.

Also, she addresses some of the larger, deeper issues people (and women in particular) have in regards to money. She identifies the root cause of many money problems which I applaud her for.

Her method really reminds me of when my mom told me I had to pull weeds out at the root, otherwise they would grow back. That is exactly what Suze does - not gloss over anything, and also finding the real cause for money problems.

So her book very much deals with attitudes women have, and deep seated emotinoal issues that affect their ability to handle money. e.g. being able to nurture other people but not being able to nurture their money. Or acting as if they are "for sale" in subtle ways.

So she outlines the problems and then she also has a step by step financial action plan for women to take that is simple and clear and makes a lot of sense.

I think if people followed it they would truly be set up for success.

She also talks a little bit about her history and tells a great story of how she got started in the field of money management. She is unafraid to share her mistakes that she has made, both in the past and recently.

Although I don't agree with everything she says, I do admire her for being so direct, succinct, and loaded with beneficial information.

I don't know if any of you caught her on Oprah the other day, but one thing she said just blew me out of the water.

She was able to tell that a husband was abusive to his wife. Oprah asked her how she knew. She said "Because he was abusive to his money". That's what I like about her - she sees the bigger picture.

She is a great behavioral observer and extrapolates a lot of wisdom from analyzing how people treat their money. I do agree that money can be a microcosm for the macrocosm of life, habits, and how we handle adversity, treat ourselves, and treat others.

Betty,

Since it's in Acrobat Reader (.pdf) I don't think you can change the text at all. Would printing it out help?

The only other thing I can think of is if you increase the document size to 200 percent or so. The only downside to this though is one really tired scrolling finger!
