I know i have yeast - but it was never black before.

Anyone ever had it?

Is it just yeast dying (I hope [Smile]

)

A different strain of yeast? ( [Eek!]

Is it furry? There is a result of antibiotics that is referred to as black hairy/furry tongue.

I had very dark areas ,not hairy, both sides of my tongue when on Tindamax, Rocephin and another antibiotic I can't remember off hand.

Another time, I forgot I snuck a black licorice. [Big Grin]

Scared me for quite a while as the short term memory was shot.
I've had soooooooo many of those lyme moments. [bonk]

Pepto Bismol is notorious for causing black tongues if you don't drink enough water with it. Pretty scary looking!

Also, as others have said, many other drugs (and I would guess supplements too) can cause discolored tongues.

I did!

Two different episodes, from amoxicillin.

What works is:

- use a tongue scraper twice a day (you can buy one
at Whole Foods or a drug store)

- brush your tongue with hydrogen peroxide after scraping

- also you can try Pleo Nig tablets (homeopathic for aspergillus).

If you break a theralac open and place on your tongue,

It will cause a black discoloration also.

Really freaked me out the first time.
