I did not experience any side effects from plaquenil. I didn't notice any improvement either...

Before starting Plaquenil you should have your eyes checked and then every 6 months while on it.

Dian, Plaq is generally safe but the sides can become more of a problem the longer it is used....
Everyone is different though and I had sides the first week. It gave me eye strain and bleeding gums....

My LLMD put me on Plaquenil several times for 5 months,along with Biaxin. But by myself, i stayed on it way too long, more than a year. I was anemic, and a doctor (not a LLMD) suggested that the Plaquenil could be suppressing the bone marrow and causing the anemia.

That's pretty frightening the LLMD didn't know that could happen. I wouldn't be happy about that.
