Hi All,
I haven't been around much lately, as I spend most of my time balancing my newfound abilities.
I haven't thrown up during a seizure (improvement) in weeks. I'd been throwing up on average 3-4 times / week for the last 5 years. I was confused all the time, in varying degrees, and eventually became bedbound by these complex partial seizures as well as excruciating neuropathic pain, all produced by the Lyme disease and co.'s.
I've been going to the gym lifting weights for the past month. Today, when I lifted the weight above my head something "clicked", "Oh yeah, right: I'm lifting over my head." Same with my legs, "Oh yeah, this is pushing with my legs".
The rehab process is fascinating: reacquainting myself with my body moving in the world.
Best wishes,

Weights is all I could do to begin, but in the past month I have increased the speed of my workout from 1:10 to :50 minutes!
I have managed to walk with my walker back from the gym (with breaks), twice or three times over the past month, which is 6 blocks away. I tried to go TO the gym; I took paratransit 1/3 of the way there a week ago, but even so it is a little uphill and I was fairly wiped afterward. Though I did recover and did my set.
What I'm finding is that the communication going to and from my core muscles was faulty, and in developing those muscles again, through repetitive movement (weights, crunches, back leg lifts, work on the stability ball), the memory of using these muscles on a neurological level is returning.
xoxo Does this qualify me for the walker / hiker's club?

Thanks for your support and love!
I got here through seeing an ILADS doc, Dr. S. in CA.
I wish I'd done this sooner, and my main suggestion to anyone who is dealing with this is to see the best versed doctor in Lyme disease that you can. Irrespective of insurance, one ends up spending more on living expenses while disabled (that is, if you don't die of complications related to Lyme disease) than if one pays out of pocket.
I lost most of my assets trying to get well within the insurance system I had (Canada). Big mistake. I nearly died, and became much sicker than if I'd immediately saught help by an experienced ILADS doctor. Had I done this, I would have kept working, and also would have been able to manage my debts, not sell the house, cars, etc.
Much love and solid recovery for us all,
