My galbladder is not liking Rifampin (I know, not the abx but the bugs) at all!!! I can't seem to find the answers I'm looking for so maybe you can help?

Im in need of immediate relief and want to head to the health food store.

What is the purest, safest brand to buy?

How much should I take? I understand everyone is different so how much should I start with?

Can I take it with other supplements or take it seperately?

Hammering the water is just not doing the trick today.

Any easy to understand info. would be appreciated, I need to stick with the K.I.S.S.(Keep it simple, stupid) method right now, I just can't seem to focus today.

Day 5 or 6 days now and I'm still whining [shake]

Proudmom [hi]

PS. I just took 400mg of Etodolac for my other pains. Has anyone else taken this? Advice?

Isnt milk thistle to help the liver?

I take the amount prescribed on the bottle. I always ask my dr before i start anything new though..even herbals/supplements.

I use natures way brand milk thistle. I have found it to be cheapest at vitacost. Here is the link at vitacost in case you want to look at the product info.

Sorry I dont know of anything to help the gallbladder...mainly because i no longer have one. [dizzy]

I was told after a liver scan that I had some marbling on my liver. He said that it could be that I've had gallbladder problems for a long time and also taking too much Ibuprophen.

My gallbladder functions any where from 27 to about 70% according to my tests. Supposedly not bad enough to remove but can be very painful.

I will contact my dr. tomorrow but I'm pretty sure he'll say go ahead.

Thank you Azure for the link, I will check it out for future purchaces.

I have suffered from liver pains since I got sick four years ago. I recently had more trouble with it so I upped my doseage of Milk Thistle. I am now taking 900mg a day.

I started doing this after I read that Stephen Buhner (who wrote the Healing Lyme book) said that you can take 1200mg if having liver trouble.

I really respect his opinion on this since he not only knows lyme well but also knows about liver troubles, and he is a great herbalist.

I have been taking the Jarrow brand of Milk Thistle because it was the cheaper one at the health food store. I take it in divided doses with each meal and with my other herbs/ supplements. I do not take antibiotics, so it may be different if you take them.

I don't know if this is the right way to take it but, it seems to work for me and my naturopath didn't seem concerned on how I take it.

Piegirl, thank you for your input. It's comforting to know that it seems safe to take and no negitive reports on taking it so far.

I take Fresh Freeze-Dried Milk Thistle (Eclectic Institute brand)
They are 600 mg per capsule and the instructions on the back say to take THREE capsules twice a day... I only take three capsules a day right now (1800mg) but if it says on the back that you can take double that..then I'd think it's pretty safe to do so.
I'm not.. only because I can't afford to go through the milk thistle that quickly.

Excuse me?

Is this the Rifampin wimp?

[lol]

I'M JUST KIDDING!!!!

But as Toby Keith says in his song... but not about Rifampin, of course... but I thought it made sense after the recent Lyme dance...

HOW do you like me now?

[Big Grin]

My liver didn't love milk thistle. I used the liquid extract. It only wanted ONE drop rather than the 20 plus prescribed on the label. It took me 18 months to build up to the 20 drops a day. If I went too fast.. more junk dumped from the liver and into my system... way too fast. Made me sicker.

NOW... it loves milk thistle. 20 drops a day.

BUT.. and I haven't had a chance to post on this today... and probably won't tonight... too tired...

The liver REALLY loved the glutathione. REALLY REALLY. I did a post last month about it. It IS the toxin remover to beat all others in MY opinion.

Instant relief. I've never seen or had anything work so well!

Since you can't do much else you wimp... try a search on that post.. my post medical section.. last month... and take a look-see.

And feel better soon, little baboon!

Hmmmmmn......whimp? You bet!!! [Smile]

TC, Between you and my daughter (proudtoserve) I'm begining to beleive it. She was on rifampin at double the dose I'm on and it didn't do anything to her.

I'm heading to the health food store today and hope to find what I need there. I'm too impatient to wait for mail order.

Don't worry TC, if you can dish it, I will gladly dish it back at ya. [lol] [Big Grin]

thank you [kiss]

A great big thank you to everyone who responded here. Lots of good info. [group hug]
