hey folks,

This is urgent immediate need.

not necessarily LL at this point because of the urgent need for inpatient neurology work-up. from there we will advocate for neurorehab program transer, or tx at the hospital.

need nyc hospital neurologists, with admitting privileges, at columbia, nyu, mt. sanai, or other hospital with good neurology dept.

i am doing allot of my own research and work, but i need more names to follow up with.

i have very good documentation to present need for this service, including severe SPECT results and doctor backing.

i need names of decent neurologists, have packages prepared with tests and medical files, plus a referring doc.

son is in psych unit and needs to be transfered to neurology work-up now.

doc to doc referral is best in this situation, not through admissions..
i have a referring doc, need a recieving one.

m

also, does anyone have feedback on doc Y in nyc?
please PM if you do.

Mo,

I sent you the name and phone number (hopefully still the same since 2005!) of a neurologist I have seen at Columbia who, from my experience, was good.

Should be in your PM box.

Yes was a patient of Dr. Y for over a year. He is Lyme "Tolerant" (even that is pushing it a bit), but if you are really in need, he at least does treat some Lyme patients. He takes no insurance, and appointments run from $4,000-$6,000/each. My daughter has severe brain SPECT scans as well, Dr. Y is definitely no expert in that area-- He is a Neuromuscular specialist, and is more concerned with physical abnormalities of the autonomic and central nervous system and the use of IVIG to correct them.

He is affiliated with NYU, Lenox Hill, perhaps he would be kind enough to make a contact for you.

There is also doctor C.B (female Neurologist) at Columbia who is Lyme Tolerant/Friendly too.

We see a neuro. who is associated with Weill Cornell and Columbia, but he is very sub-specialized to our daughters specific secondary condition, I'm not sure he see's general Neurology patients. PM me for the name, if you would like.

God bless, I hope you find the help you need.

Mo-

have you asked our former Dr. L for names/referrals?

as i recall, his "rolodex" of recommended specialists was very comprehensive.

thanks allot.

yes, we definately need a neurologist who acknowledges the severity and understands the significance of SPECT scans, coupled with cognitive
behavioral, somatic symtoms.

also to understand our need for sub-acute care following a work-up. sounds like y may not be our man.

please do PM me about the doc you see affiliated
w/cornell.

dilly, thanks, you are right, and yes, i have left word on that.

Mo,

I previously sent you info on Dr Y affiliated with NYU and Lenox Hill Hospital in NYC. Would not recommend him. Seriously considered reporting him to medical board when he stopped hubby's IV Ativan, IV Phenergan and IV Demoral all cold turkey against the advice of both a pain specialist and the psych dept.

To be perfectly frank, all he seemed interested in was getting money from us to do his tests so hubby would qualify for IV IgG treatment -- not why we went to him to begin with. Hubby was having problems with muscle rigors and severe myoclonus -- subsequently symptoms much much improved with Bart treatment.

The doc was upset we could not come up with $6300 for tests and tried to talk pulmonologist into diagnosing sarcoidosis. When that didn't work he referred hubby to psych dept, but made no effort to get him transferred to Columbia as we requested.

Also, Dr Y told hubby that a SPECT scan was a functional test and not relevant to his treatment and symptoms. Hubby's SPECT was from Columbia but was nowhere near as bad as your son's -- showed mild to moderate global hypoperfusion and listed Lyme and vasculitis as possible causes.

This is just hubby's experience, but there are others who have had similar experiences.

Mo,

Hospital admin office should be able to provide you with a list of all neuros who have priviledges at their hospital. Imagine it would be a very long list for the larger hospitals in NYC.

Our small local hospital gave us a list the last time we were looking for a PCP -- they actually had a brochure listing all docs with hospital priviledges.

I also previopusly sent you the name of another neuro in New York I got from the new LDA referral website -- let me know if I need to resend it. Still haven't gotten around to contacting the doc myself.
