So far I have had my thumb joint replaced and now need knee replacement surgery.
I know it won't stop there. Is there anything I can do to slow down the damage from artritis?

Do you have RA or Lyme arthritis?

What treatment are you on ?

Lyme can destroy cartiledge but conventional treatments with steroids, non-steroidals and other immune suppressant drugs can make things worse.

Need to support collegen with Vitamin C, some use glucosamine some use MSM

Need to have good levels of Omega 3s and avoid all trans fats, eat an anti-inflammatory diet

Need to control the Lyme

Osteoarthritis

need anti-inflammatory diet, gentle exercise, as I said before, omega 3 oils help control inflammation

Some people have luck with glucosamine, some do not

Lyme uncheck will slowly destroy the joints , it needs to be controlled.

As the Lyme gets better the joint symptoms can also improve. Depends on how much damage done

Hi sick,

The reason why I asked if your sed. rate was elevated because of R/A. I am R/A postitive.

About a week ago I was having some rough pain in my knee. I just started taking this product called MSM that seems to be helping.

SED rate is checked by way of bloodtest, it's an inflammatory marker.

The arthritis is most prominent in my spine, left knee, and hands.

I did not have a + SED rate but + ANA (anti nuclear antibody) and + C-Reactive Protein. Was dx'd. with sero-negative RA and Sjogren's and treated with Remicade, Arava, MTX, now Enbrel.

I have just been dx'd. with Lyme. Being referred to Dr. G in New Jersey.

Yes, it is the lyme and I just got over a bad week with severe acid reflux that was so bad I lost 7# in a week. Could not eat or drink anything, even water.

My local PCP knows nothing about Lyme and referred me to an infectious disease dr. who said there's no lyme in Texas (can you believe???).

My rheumy did a radio-active dye test on my joints and said my entire body was lit up with inflammation. He had no idea why my SED rate was negative. Maybe he knew but couldn't say??
