Last week, a friend (closer to an acquaintance really) came down with the a flu-ish episode that also included a rash on her legs, inflammation in her ankle, and strong joint pain.
The doctor was really baffled but bells and whistles were screaming in my head! Just some weird virus, they said and gave her a series of tests including one for Lyme, you know - just to rule it out.
At that point in the story I said, sounds like Lyme to me and preceded to tell her the early signs that sometimes occur, why she needs to be retested at a later date and the importance of abx for no less than six weeks.
In order to avoid looking like a know-it-all or someone who thinks everything is Lyme, I would like to offer her just a FEW things to support the possibility of Lyme. I know if there is too much data, photos, links, etc. she's likely to disregard it all and just trust whatever her mainstream doctor says.
Here's what I am looking for in terms of supporting data: -a link to some rash photos so she can compare hers (she thankfully snapped some shots of her rash) -an easy to read short concise article/study on how untreated/under-treated Lyme can result in Chronic Lyme/Post-Lyme and why six weeks of abx is necessary. -another short concise article/study that summarizes the Lyme controversary and includes info on how poor the & inaccurate the current tests are.
You people here are a wealth of information and without you, I would still be struggling to find answers.
Thanks for helping me and thanks in advance for helping me help her!

Without knowing what her rash looked like, I'd be at a loss to provide you with a picture. You can google 'Lyme rash' or 'erythema migrans' on "google images" and see if you can place it.
There's also more info on www.lymeinfo.net. You may find something helpful there.
Good luck.
