Q: Is this a good combo?
A: Yes, it can be.

Q: Are there any side affects with flagyl?
A: Oh, yes, most definitely. [Eek!]

Some people have very, very bad herxes on flagyl. By all means, please ask your doc to start with small doses and work up to full dose!

Flagyl kills the lyme bacteria that have gone into the cyst form to evade the doxy. (Doxy only kills the lyme in the spirochete form.) So, you can expect to feel bad for a while (a herx) when you first start it.

To help with this, drink lots of water with fresh lemons squeezed into it. This will cleanse your body of the dead bacteria so they don't accumulate and make you feel lousy.

Drink this every day througout your lyme treatment. I was told to do this by my now famous lyme doctor.

When I added flagyl, I felt bad for 3 days and half bad for 4. Then, after that, I was fine. The herx started about the 3rd or 4th day I took flagyl.

I didn't have side effects with flagyl, but every med has side effects. Some people get some of the side effects and some don't, just like with any med that is prescribed.

TF,

What dosage wer you at when you started out?

A lot of DR's are pulsing this thing now.

I'm 250mg once a day for 1 week
Then 250mg twice a day for 1 week
Then 2 weeks off

What's the highest dosage you got to?

My doctor feels flagyl is SO important to use as a cyst buster.

The one side effect I got from flagyl is a metallic taste in my mouth. But it was not too bad. Drinking the metro mint water (water only flavored with mint extract) really helped.

My husband couldn't tolerate Flagyl due to stomach pain. He switched to Tindamax and has been fine with that.

I have been on oral Flagyl (500 mg, twice a day) for months, and I have had no bad reactions to it.

I think it just varies from person to person.

My worst herx symptom was depression. It was really bad. Be aware!

Cane--

I started Flagyl at the same time as at least one other new medication--maybe two, I can't remember.

I can't remember a specific "Flagyl herx," but I also can't say that it didn't happen. Still, I think that Flagyl has been pretty easy on my body compared to what I've heard from others.

Which is good for me, since so many other meds have kicked my butt! [Smile]

My flagyl dose was 250 mg three time per day. That was the full dose and I took it from day one.

I took flagyl for 2 months straight.

But, always remember, my dose was based on my past history which will not be identical to anyone else's.
