I started at 150mg and worked up from there.
My doctor did not want me to start at full dose of anything roght off.
Good luck- I have not had any bad side effects from it.

I would check with my Dr. If they feel you should start on full dose, then that's what you do. But keep in mind that you should listen to your body and note any weird reactions such as skin burning or itching or facial or throat swelling.
FWIW, after a week, my skin first was itching, then was red and ON FIRE. I freaked thinking I was allergic and started taking Benadryl. My Allergist and LLMD both confirmed herx and I had to back off until rash subsided, and then restart at baby doses and worked up gradually.

I also had a red rash 5 days into 300mg Rifampin.
Did what lymeinhell did- backed off for a while and gradually worked up to 600mg w/o incident.

Wow, I started right on the 600mg dose.
I had some dizziness and nausea for about a week, then no more problems.
Lol, my younger son is fascinated with my "orjange pee."

I started at 300 and went to 600 after one week. I did fine on Rifampin and found it helpful. It did add to my insomnia so I took it all in one dose, in the morning. Good luck Kris
