I'm running into brick walls trying to get the IV abx started. My pcp is on board with my llmd's protocol so he's not the problem. We have attempted to set up the service through home health services. Since I am not home bound insurance will not cover it. They have an infusion center as well but BCBS says I will have to pay the $50 co pay every day I go.
I did 2 weeks of abx last march through an infusion center. It was also a doctors office so I did not have to pay the copay each day.
The problem is that infusion center was 55 miles away. I did the commute for 2 weeks and there is no way I could continue that. I have done a search and been unable to find a infusion center/doctors office anywhere locally.
Any suggestions. How does everyone go about getting the IV done

Why can't you self infuse at home?
I had PICC inserted in hospital as out patient.
Home health company came that day to show me how and did first infusion. Then I dd myself 2X day.
Home health came once a week to change dressing.
The doctor's (my llmd) office set it up.

Ditto for me asdmc said. I've been doing rocephin since last Aug, BCBS has paid it all, and for a nurse to come in every week to change my bandage.
My LLMD also set everything up.

Do you know any RN's that might be willing to teach you and help you for awhile?
If not, the infusion center or the staff at your doctor's office can teach a friend or relative how to help with the infusions and dressing changes.
Your doctor can also arrange to have the medications and supplies delivered to your house.
