Hi All-
I realize refractory lyme arthritis can take years to resolve (sometimes 6 years). For those of you who have beaten this can you please answer the following:
1) Best abx or anti-rheumetic to treat refractory lyme arthritis?
2) Best supplements specifically for this???

I'm confused. How is this condition different from lyme that has not been fully eradicated?

Pls go to the Roadback Foundation site,...it talks alot about all of this with Abxs and which ones. But pls understand that most arthritis is lyme or some other pathogen or viral epitology...That site will help explain. God Bless

Thanks for the responses...I realize my post wasn't clear...sorry.......
Depending upon the infectious nature of lyme it can produce different types of symptoms in different people. I've recovered from the lyme encephalopathy and don't need treatment for that. However, I'm one of the lyme patients who had both encephalopathy and also a type of autoimmune-like attack on my joints and muscles which has lasted for years. (this DID NOT resolve with abx treatment that I did for 3 -3 1/2 years). I know realize I needed to use one such as minocyclene, for ex., that might suppress the over-reactivity.....
As far as I can tell from most of the medical literature on this, patients can last with this type of stiff muscle/joint pain for a median of 6 years, (if they are prone to an autoimmune reaction) ....HLA-DRB allele testing is often used to look for this...
Anyway, for the subclass of patients I fall into, I was wondering what specific regimens have worked for people...
I know many usually try minocyclene first, then plaquenil, them move to DMARDs if they cannot otherwise get relief....
Sk8ter, maybe I can find some answers on RoadBack...I was trying to fight this with just supplements and just "wait it out" but I'm afraid I'm going to have to get back in the saddle with mino or plaquenil....
