My LLMD says that Doxy and Artemisia gets at babesia. Articles say that Doxy and Quinine will kill malaria, so perhaps this is similar.
I test negative for Babs, but have air hunger, dizziness and a few years ago (after onset, but before diagnosis) had unreal night sweats.
I've been on Doxy for about a month at the high dose, and noticed a reduction in air hunger quickly.
I added Art about 3 weeks ago, but have noticed no difference in symptoms other than the following: (1) the Art somehow made the Doxy more tolerable to my gut, and I don't take them at the same time, and (2) my night sweats are back. I'm hoping this is a positive sign of a herx.

What is "art"??? My son has babesia and is on azithromycin and mepron but he gets such bad congestion in the throat, he can't even breathe, feels like he is drowning in his own phlegm. I thought Rifampin was for Bartonella?

I have been on Doxy and Rifampin for quite a while, and when my air hunger began getting intolerable, my LLMD told me to add in art.
That did me no good at all, really, except for a little improvement at the very beginning.
Now he took me off the Doxy and started me on Ceftin. I'll drop the Rifampin in 2 weeks and add malarone.
Still taking the art. Not noticing any difference yet, except that my air hunger seems to be worsening, and I had a couple days of extreme fatigue and achiness.
Good luck!
