On week eight of Mepron at 1 and 1/2 tsp BID. Had to stop Zith and MIo until the c diff reolves, so taking Humaworm and Byron White A-l and A-Bart.I started the herbs three weeks ago and am now up to one drop each a day. Finished Paragone last month. Feeling exhausted and headachey..sort of breathless, had been feeling better a week ago, wondering if this is the flare of babs I am supposed to note or just the Bryon White herbs die- off? Or maybe without the Zith and Mino th elyme is coming back? Tomorrow I am to stop the Mepron for a week, 3 weeks on and one week off because without the Zith, I run the risk of developing resistance to Mepron my LLMD told me. This is the old way they used to treat. Anyone familiar with this protocol? I wish I had zith on board.....

My LLMD does 3 weeks on, 1 off. I think it also gives your liver a break

I read Dr. J does that. I am not positive but I believe you continue the zithro the whole time. I don't know why he does that.

I am currently on this regimen. I've been for 2 months. Do a search on here for "Mepron Pulse" ( i don't know how to add a link). I posted this question last week because I cannot take Zith or biaxin.
The reviews were mixed because mepron is a drug that works up in your system. And the higher the amount in your system then the more therapeutic it is. Im concerned myself and wanted to continue taking the mepron with no breaks.
I can't tell if its working. I have had all my symptoms re-emerge and now feel like crap but Im hoping its resolving something.
Another person on here treated Babs with BActrim and Artemisinin. I would try to add one or both of those into your regimen.
Also, are you taking Florastor? My doc says this helps keep C. diff at bay.

Beths doesn't your doctor also keep you on Zith tho trhoughout, I am not on Zith now... Nefferdun, that is the protocol I was thining of Jadams, I am with you I take Humaworm that has a little bit fo art in it 100mg, abnd the Byron White A-L and A-BArt that also have a little art in it, but really not the 300mg or so I think is standard. I see my LLMD next week. So I will ask her if we coudln't return to that, meanwhile I am taking florastor-6-9 a day, plus theralac-usually 3 per day-her body biotics 2 day, VSL #3 one every other day-Also takign Nystatin 3x day if I can time it without killing the florastor. Its been 3 weeks since I stopped Zith so today is my last day of Mepron, and I go a week without anythign but the BW herbs and the Humaworm and supps, needles to say it makes me very nervous...on the other hand my body is tired it keeps gettign yeast/bacterial/parasite/and c diff infections......maybe durign the week I can get a little stronger, right now I feel pretty beat up-think I am also developing a female bacterial infection on top of everything else.

Sorry you are having so many challenges. It is so frustrating to not be able to tolerate the treatment that will get you better. Im actually going to ask my doctor if I can either:
Take mepron 4 weeks on 1 week off instead of 3 on/1 off. Because I really herx on week 4 when Im off the meds
Or
Take Zith/Biaxin for that one week off. Im not allergic to them but Zith gave me ear ringing after a month and biaxin came right back up! Im hoping by only taking them for a week I can limit the side effects? Who knows.
Just want to be rid of Babesia, It's the worst bug for me. The artemisinin seems to work really good for me. I take 400 mg a day. 2 in the am and 2 in the pm.
I wish you the best.

jadams thanks for the support and the info on the dosing of art. Which art do you use? Also when do you take your enzyme? I take Lubrokinase 1 hour before breakfast and 2 hours before dinner. Wondering if Lubrokinase is breakign the biofilms or I shoudl try Buluoke or another biofilm buster.

That is very high zithro. I only take 250 twice a day.
The Ketek can be hard on your liver. I took it in the beginning of my treatment for lyme. Dr. B thinks it is one of the best drugs for Bb. It is one of the macrolides we tend to forget about. It worked very well for me.

Igor's Mom- I take Allergy Research Group Artemisinin. Not on any enzymes but I really want to get on a good one that helps with inflammation. I wasn't aware that they are effective against biofilms so that is even better.
Nefferdum-why is a cyst buster given when treating Babesia? Also, did you have any problems with ketek? I may see if I can try that one.

Per nefferfdun's comment, I don't think it's "very high" zith dosage. That's what most folks I know are prescribed anyway (including myself, when I was on it before.). Just my couple of pennies.
