i went to my gp about the underarm pain. he said he couldn't find any lumps, etc., but he did say my neck glands were swollen. he put me on ceftin for 10 days.
so i've finished it and the pain is still there, in fact, it's much worse. i can't lay on my sides at night because of stabbing pain under my arms going down my sides.
i made a mammo appt tomorrow. am thinking of going to my gastro and have him look at my breasts.
any ideas? i can't feel any lumps but it's just pain. also my inside legs are hurting.
pretty sure it might be lymph but nothing showed up on any bloodwork, all normal, etc.
i've got to do something but don't know what.

I have breast pain too, it has gotten better with treatment, but it is still there. My breast tissue also feels so hard. When it started, I also had underarm pain, like you describe. I would have to keep chaging sides when I slept every few minutes bc it was so painful. I felt like I was being weighed down by my breasts and my breasts are not huge, and I am not overweight - VERY petite.
I had an MRI and there was a tiny 6mm mass in my right breast. They said it was benign and didnt want to do anything. I pushed for a biopsy and when they went to do the MRI guided biopsy, the mass was gone. No explanation. I think this is just another crappy lyme symptom. I think you are smart to get it checked out, but I wouldn't be freaking out over it just yet. Chances are it's lyme. I lost so much sleep over it,and that's what it ended up being. I have just been dx'ed with fibrocystic breasts after a 3rd opinion.
My llmd (Dr. H in NY) is going to test my iodine levels next time I see hhim though bc I had told him about my breast pain last time I was there in April. Apparently, if you are iodine deficient, it can cause breast problems, as well as thyroid problems (which I also have). It may be something worth testing for for you too. I looked iodine deficiency up and there are several posts about it on this forum. I hope this helps a little ,I know how scary it is!

well ya'll, heck, everyone on this board, knows that i panic at the slightest thing.
but man this really really hurts. i'm dreading that mammo. i'm a 44ddd and i don't look forward to being smashed as flat as a pancake either.
what kind of treatment are you doing?
i had bloodwork and nothing showed up there, thyroid ok, everything perfectly normal. just wish he had done an x-ray of the underarm ho just in case.
but i've had so many tests done i must be radioactive by now and that's not good either.

Right now, I am doing Bicillin injections, Rifampin and mino along with several supplements. In addition, I am starting chelation tonight.
Yes, all the radiation is certainly not good for you either. Is there any chance you might be able to do an MRI instead? MRIs do not have radiation!

randi, I told you a few weeks ago I believe that I thought you have clogged lymph nodes. No, abx is not going to get them flowing dear.
Some good lymph work might. I never have been clogged on just one side. If I'm clogged or have pain, it's a both sided affair.
I wish I could teach you how to get lymph flowing, but I don't have my degree yet in lymph drainage. lol

Try dry skin brushing or get a lymph drainage massage. And then drink a ton of water.

randi you should do your layover in Louisville. I've had enough lymph work done that I could work on you at the airport.
I'd bring my oils and a chair for me to sit in. We would need to find a wall or table in restaurant that is the right height and I can work on you.
I will bring sheet. You will need to take your shirt off in restroom, and probably the bra too. Come out with sheet wrapped around your top.
No I'm not licensed in KY. So I could get in trouble for practicing medicine without a license.
But I've had so much lymph work done on me that I know what needs to be done to get your flowing. They won't arrest you, because you will not be indecently exposed.
I can do the lymph with the sheet on you. I think I can get enough work done to drawl a crowd. If I tip the waitress for the table space they will be ok, I think.
When security gets there, I can continue to do lymph work and answer their questions. When they cuff me, the lymph session will be over.
Don't worry my Mom or my hubby will come get me out of jail. I will have to explain to the judge why I was practicing medicine.
I'll just get my lawyer to say I was lyme disease crazy.
Get slapped on the wrist and sent on my way or I could end up in the psych ward?
You could go on to family visit. We all live happily ever after.

Underarm pain was my first symptom. It was never attributed to the lymph nodes by my Dr. and more and more symptoms appeared as the symptoms progressed. Dx: with lyme and mycoplasma infections years later.

You can have sore lymphnodes and them not being enlarged. Happens to me all the time. Personally, i would skip the mamo if you are not due. I remember you saying your spleen was enlarged. Spleen is part of the lymph system, so it makes sense. i can kinda (or so i think) tell when my lyme is acting up by how my glands are doing. I have a gland on the inside of my elbow (epithroclear) that the worse i feel the bigger it gets.
My pcp who also does id, actually photographed it because its so unusual. Most docs dont even realize there is a gland there. They tell me its a lipoma.ha
But my neck glands also hurt but never seem to be enlarged. This is 4 years now. You also have lymphnodes in your groin area, actually they are all over your body.
I thought it was weird your gi doc was gonna check your breasts! Lol.

I start with my hands, both sides (brushing towards heart), then forearms, both sides, then upper arms (bring sure to hit the insides of my elbows). Usually four sides of upper arms, while holding my arm up. For the side where I'd otherwise stop at my underarm, I keep going down and swing it around under my breast.
I can literally feel the increased circulation/movement. Feels refreshing.

My neck glands and my nodes in my neck and down to my upper arms and breast are always inflammed with pain but swelling in neck lymphs do swell up during flares or immune system crash due to stress or life.
My notes of things to do says look for pic of lymph nodes in the entire body.
