My Bart Hensai test came back positive through MDL.
Only problem is I cannot reach my Lyme Dr. and my Integrated Med Dr. doesn't know what to out me on. She has been to ILads and is eager to learn but we could really use some help here. I am continuing to feel worse and worse.

fflutterby, sorry you are getting worse...

we don't know your symptoms ?
follow your LLMD instructions,
why can't you get through to your LYME md ?
we are posioning ourselves with the die off,
which comes from antibiotics, even if you stop treatment they will stay in your system for some time, my LLMD said the amoxy may take 2 weeks to get rid of,
every where i've been with lyme its the common thread to be sicker when in treatment,
the poop and dead fibrin have to get outta some way..
Yes, Our God is Bigger.. then all things.. try not to think what God will do, Think He has done it already.
hope you can find a comfort zone soon.

From page 24 of Burrascano:

"The drug of choice to treat BLO [bartonella like organism] is levofloxacin. Levofloxacin is usually never used for Lyme or Babesia, so many patients who have tick-borne diseases, and who have been treated for them but remain ill, may in fact be infected with BLO. Treatment consist of 500 mg daily (may be adjusted based on body weight) for at least one month. Treat for three months or longer in the more ill patient."

The brand name is Levaquin. It worked for me.

Levaquin was great for me.

Some people are taking a-bart if you'd prefer an herbal.

Ummmm...your symptoms sound more like Babesia.

Often the tests are negative. You could try a round of Mepron/Zith to see if you herx.

Most of us have all 3 Bs: Borrelia (Lyme), Bartonella, Babesia.

I used gemifloxacin (brand name Factive) for a few months. It is a 4th generation fluoroquinolone, so it is similar to levofloxacin which is a 3rd generation fluoroquinolone. My doc says gemifloxacin is active against both borrelia and bartonella.

Bear in mind the fluoroquinolones (3rd or 4th generation) bear the potential risk of tendon damage, among other potential issues.

Why not have your doctor who is eager to learn, read the Burrascano Guidelines.

Antiparasitics and salt/c saved my life after being on abx for 4 yrs. I was dx with bart also. Parasites and worms play a MAJOR role in Lyme disease. Sea salt is a natural abx, antiparasitic.

You can also do a search on here for parasites. These remedies have gone after the bart, babs and erlichia also. Check lymestrategies for more alternatives and info on salt/c\

Awe...I'm sorry you're feeling so overwhelmed right now fflutterby. This definitely is a rough disease to deal with and I feel your frustration.

Cry if you need to. God gave us tears to help us cleanse the soul. It is good to cry sometimes.

Concerning the bart...I'm currently taking Bacrtrim DS for it. I refuse to take Levaquin because I have seen too many people have problems with it. But that's just me and my opinion. Some people do fine on it.

Breathe. Try not to think about this too much for the rest of the day. I know...much easier said than done. I'm so sorry...I hope that you can find the right combo of meds to help.

flutterby,

Just be thankful you have a positive test -- that helps end the guessing and gives you a starting point.

Yes, you may have both bart and babesia -- but just take it one step at a time. Try treating your known infections -- lyme and bart and then if you are still having symptoms consistent with babesia you can tackle that next.

It is a trial and error process -- there is no one right way to treat. Every year there is more research and more options -- both antibiotics and herbs which have been tested and/or experimented with by others on the forums.

Some people do better treating one infection at a time and others do better treating everything at the same time. A doc who listens to the patient and can change meds as needed will eventually find the right combination for you.

Thanks you all, I do feel a little better. Bea you are so right, that positive test is a blessing. I will get through this. PMS doesn't help either, this is a bis thing for me and I am suffering with it as we speak. So everything seems really worse than it will when I get my period.

God bless

fflutterby,

I'm sorry you're having a hard time right now. It will get better.

I agree with Boxermom & Tutu - your symptoms sound like Babesia.

And I agree with Bea - it's a blessing to have a positive Bart test. Who ever gets that? Not I AND certainly not by MDL!

So, now you know what you're dealing with - Bart & Babs.

Ask your LLMD to follow Dr. H. and treat both together.

I treated for Bart for 8 months with Rifampin (loved it!) as my symptoms were Bart.

When I found out Babesia was mixed in, my LLMD followed Dr. H. by putting me on Mepron, Zith, Bactrim.

You might just feel suddenly better, with a few rough times mixed in there, but ultimately much better.

You're going to be OK.

(((Hugs)))
