If you don't mind sharing... are you on those for ulcers, or for GERD?
You might need them for the ulcers, but many people have cured their GERD quite easily without PPIs.

I'm surprised I don't have c.diff then. I've been taking a PPI for 11 yrs.
--i just googled.. it is ASSOCIATED with c.diff .. does not say CAUSES... you're at a higher risk of getting c.diff...
one source:
"The use of gastric acid suppression medications is also a risk factor for C. diff infection. The use of proton pump inhibitors such as Nexium, Prilosec and Prevacid is associated with three times the risk of CDI. The use of H2-receptor agonists, another class of gastric acid suppressants, which includes Zantac and Pepcid, is associated with twice the risk of CDI. These acid suppressants may make it easier for C. diff to survive in the digestive tract."

Yeah my sister has been on prilosec forever and she's never taken probiotics. Sucks...
i think if you goggle "does nexium cause c. diff", you'll find several sites that say it definitely does "contribute" to having c. diff.
