My doctor wants me to take Cortef after my saliva test showed that, apart from in the early morning, my results are low.

I keep putting this off as I plan to see Dr S soon and I seem to remember reading that he is very much against using Cortef, as it reduces ACTH and that this is important for the immune system.

Does anyone know if I have got this right? He mentions Cortef by name, so I know it's not Prednisone that he is talking about.

Thanks in advance.

Sue

You might want to talk to the lyme support groups near Pocomoke, MD. In addition to some possible answers to the Cortef question, this will help you see the range of his expertise and what he's best at - and what you'd need other care to address.

Perhaps, also call his office ask the office manager if they may be able to point you to a certain article or part of one of his books to read prior to your appt.

It's probably a good idea to read all his articles and books that you can get your hands on prior to the appt. Pretty sure those are available as his websites. Just Google his full name. His first name's unusual spelling helps several links pop right up.

He did very thorough endocrine tests for me years ago. Unfortunately, my hometown PCP did not agree with the tests that showed I had several adrenal problems.

Be sure you have good complementary medical care at home to help you follow through - or try to go back for consistent care. 3,000 miles was just too far for me.

Good advise from Keebler, as always!

Head's up from me...

You might want to edit out the docs name in the title and in your post before the moderators chew you up and spit you out.
