I just found out I am allergic to Azithromycin and pharmacist says probably allergic to Biaxin also since same type of abx.
What other abx can be combined with Mepron to treat Babs?

I couldn't take mepron because azith gave me hives and Biaxin gave me unbearable side effects.
My doc didn't bother to try any of the other meds in that family. He just treated my babs with Bactrim DS and pulsed artemesinin.
He says mepron/zith is preferred, but bactrim will do the trick. He says it just takes twice as long with bactrim.
And, bactrim also treats bart, so you are at least treating 2 diseases at once with the bactrim.
Page 24 of Burrascano:
"Because of these dismal statistics, the current regimen of choice for Babesiosis is the combination of atovaquone (Mepron, Malarone), 750 mg bid, plus an erythromycin-type drug, such as azithromycin (Zithromax), clarithromycin (Biaxin), or telithromycin (Ketek) in standard doses."
Notice that I was not allergic to Biaxin even though I was allergic to azithromycin. So, you could give Biaxin a try to see what happens. If your zith allergy was bad, you may want to have an epi-pen handy when you try it, though.

How about doxycycline? That is what I used when I developed an allergy to zithro.
