My LLND has me taking anti-parasite herbs (black walnut, artemisia annua, cloves, olive leaf, cat's claw, pao d'arco and cascara sagrada). It's clear to me that they exacerbate what is already a long standing (8-10 months) problem with diarrhea. My question is, for anyone who has experience with parasite cleanses, is there any way to tell if the diarrhea is a good sign or not? Should I take herbs/eat foods to try to control it or is it my body's way of clearing toxins/handling die-off?
thanks in advance!

Diarrhea is not a good sign. Cascara sagrada can screw people up if they get diarrhea from it. I would go off that herb and try the rest. Maybe that will help. That started to happen to me and I rotated off that one. Have you been on cascara the whole 8-10 mos?

I took Artemisinin for parasites but didn't have diarrhea from it. I think that there's never any good that comes from diarrhea. It depletes the body of nutrients and causes dehydration. Later on, I think because of Bart, I developed diarrhea and had it for about a year. I finally was able to control it naturally by taking 1 Kelp tablet and 3 Genesis Today Probiotics every day.
I don't like relying on over the counter anti-diarrhea medications for very long because they eventually cause malabsorption but they can help stop the dehydration initially while you seek a cure.

Thanks for all the responses. Interesting to know about cascara sagrada. I started it at the same time as the other parasite herbs (about 2 months ago) so the diarrhea existed before introducing those herbs but worsened with them. I'll try cutting out the cascara sagrada and see if things change

I have a different opinion. Even diarrhea is not good, I don't know how to get rid of a bad candida infection without diarrhea.
AS I have been fighting chronic candida for about 30 years, I know that when I take killers, I will have loose stools or diarrhea the first days.
It's when candida dies in great amounts, I think. After day 3 or so on candida killers, things stabilize, symptoms vanish, and so does the diarrhea.
that's been my experience.
As you are taking so many herbs at once, it is hard to know whether this diarrhea is coming from individual herbs, from die off...
In my case, I had to be much more careful to try to add one herb at a time, so that I could control reactions. Since lyme, I never buy anything multi-herb, because of reactions.
An intolerance or allergy can cause me lots of trouble in itself, so I usually start slow, one herb at a time, so that I can control better what's going on...
If diarrhea remains, it is a big problem indeed. If it lasts just one or two days, it could be a die off, in my opinion.

If your stools are already loose you might not need the cascara sagrada. But I agree with Brussels, those things move out fast. Stay hydrated and keep your minerals up.
