This is a catch 22, because a LOT of pathogens need iron....for one reason or another...but of course, so do we (need iron).

Palafer is very easy on the stomach and available in most pharmacies. You do have to ask for it since it is behind the counter.
. . . Nettle leaf extracts reduce inflammation, in part, by suppressing the release of inflammatory cytokines.
They do this by blocking a chemical inducer known as NF-KappaB, which alters gene expresion. This may be one explanation for the beneficial efffects this herb has exhibited in rheumatoid arthritis (Riehemann et al., 1999). . . .
. . . its ability to slow down the inflammatory cytokine response caused by endotoxins. . . .
For Lyme-related joint pain, Buhner recommends Nettles 1200mg/day.
I have found Nettles (I use organic powdered nettle leaves) to be fantastic for relief of my joint pain - including the wandering joint pain in my legs, arthritic hand pain, etc.

iron picolinate from Thorne is well tolerated by most. I can take it on an empty stomach without problems (not sure if everyone could though).

I would recommend Floradix if you can find it. These tablets helped keep my iron levels within in the normal range. They were easy on the stomach and apparently absorbed well.
When I couldn't find the Floradix I had to switch to another brand. I've been using Blood Builder. It is the most similar product that I could find. It is also easy on the stomach.
Unfortunately my iron levels have dropped significantly since being on Blood Builder for a few months. My red blood cells and hemoglobin have also dropped to a dangerous low. Now I'm on IV iron.
If the brand of iron that you are currently taking hurts your stomach then you may want to consider switching to another. Possibly try Floradix or something mentioned above. You shouldn't get used to a supplement that is hurting you. It should help you.

Over the counter Bifera. Now called Feosol. It's the one in the purple package. Sold at CVS, Walgreens and other drug stores.
Very easy on the stomach. No constipation.
Also, liquid packets called Pur Absorb. Comes in a box of 30. I add it to a bottle of water. makes it taste a little metaly, but it's tolerable and easy on the system.
