Does anyone know of any source that will teach a person (such as myself) all/anything about Lyme in order for me to teach others? I would also like to mentor with Naturopaths in exchange for my skills and abilities (which are vast). I don't have the money to pay for college as I rely on a meger SSDI income. I am (still) willing to learn and very curious. What I don't understand, I ask or research. I want to educate (and do, to every person I encounter), but with a powerful base of knowledge. I have Lyme and if I can save one person from what this disease can and has done to my Life as I knew it, it would be worth asking anyone out there who will help.
thank-you!

Maybe you could ask Lyme literate naturopaths in your area if you could do volunteer work for them.

Diagnosing Lyme Disease (&/or whatever else is going on)

Other tick-borne infections and other chronic stealth infections - as well as certain conditions - that can hold us back are discussed here.

=========================

What ILADS is

& WHY you need an ILADS-educated, Lyme Literate Doctor (whether LLMD or LL ND, or both)

==========================

When considering herbal / nutritional / adjunct methods:

if at all possible - because each person & each case is different - it's best to consult with an ILADS-educated LL (lyme literate) doctor who has completed four years of post-graduate medical education in the field of herbal and nutritional medicine -

- and someone who is current with ILADS' research & presentations, past and present.

Many LL NDs incorporate antibiotics (depending upon the licensing laws in their state). Some LLMDs and LL NDs have good working relationships.

When possible, it's great to have both a LLMD and LL ND and even better when they have a long-standing professional relationship.

How to find an ILADS-educated LL:

N.D. (Naturopathic Doctor);

L.Ac. (Acupuncturist);

D.Ay. (Doctor of Ayurvedic Medicine);

D.O.M. (Doctor of Oriental Medicine);

Integrative / Holistic M.D., etc. (Be aware that those in this category can have various levels of formal herbal &/or nutritional education, perhaps even just a short course. Do ask first.)

Links to many articles and books by holistic-minded LL doctors of various degrees who all have this basic approach in common:

Understanding of the importance of addressing the infection(s) fully head-on with specific measures from all corners of medicine;

knowing which supplements have direct impact, which are only support and which are both.

You can compare and contrast many approaches.

BASIC HERBAL EDUCATIONAL & SAFETY links,

BODY WORK links with safety tailored to lyme patients,

LOW HEAT INFRARED SAUNA detail,

BIONIC 880 (& PE-1) links, and

RIFE links.

I've been thinking about how to do something similar. There is something interesting and fulfilling about being able to help people that are experiencing things that you may be able to help with. Keep up the search on what to do!

"Informational interviews" are very helpful to explore any career or vocation. Just ask.

Grants and loans are very nice and if you talk with a ND, they may have suggestions.

There are workshops that can use volunteers and then you might get to sit in on some lectures.

Building some kind of relationship is key. Just be yourself and convey your desires, assess your strengths now and consider how those might shift as health returns.

JOURNALISM? I think we also need some journalists who understand this field. And you can learn to write without going to college. Though, it would be good to try to build relationships with various professors as best possible.

Even the top networks' reporting of this kind of medicine is very lacking, indeed. And the reporting about lyme is simply beyond horrific.

But - on both counts - the corporate powers (from both pharmaceutical & medical bodies) are the major problems (and their commercial and station sponsors)

as well as lack of time for journalists to learn (but then, of course, they often think it's just so simple and they have just seconds to report complex issues).

As a former journalism instructor, I am deeply saddened by this. I would like to see established at all journalism colleges courses and certification for medical reporting that includes alternative methods -

- however, most networks employ typical doctors for this kind of very limited reporting. They are all established in their field but are not educated regarding lyme - or herbal medicine.

I would like to see some NDs on staff for the network news groups. [Dr. Oz does feature some as guests on his program.]

So look to websites such as that for Mercola and others in that ND thread above.

MOVES? You might consider learning (later teaching) yoga, Qi Gong, Tai Chi or Pilates, etc.

You may want to learn FELDENKRAIS and become certified in that area of body work.

DANCE? Teaching dance would be my idea of fun.

MUSIC? Teaching singing or any kind of music is very healing, too. Check out healing circles.

GARDENING or COOKING classes may be your calling. There are many ways to go with this desire.

See the website for "Christina Cooks" - while not gluten-free and a propensity for brown rice syrup, she overcame cancer, learned nutrition and has not just a cooking show but teaches at a college and on cruises - Vegetarian / Mediterranean.

You might start with your local lyme support group and ask if they need help securing guest speakers.

This will give you access to the range of professionals in your area and, from there, relationships can develop.

A word of warning: right now don't try to save everyone you meet who is ill. That can drain you and them. Rather, find out where to point them.

THIS is the key to surviving a caring demeanor on reduced energy.
