Anyone else take Saccharomyces Boulardi to help with yeast. My ND has me on this, but I am not sure why.

He put me on it to treat yeast. I know it's good for people who are on antibiotics but I am not. Anyone else take this just to help with yeast?

Yes here too.

Initally I could not take it because I am allergic to yeast but over time I have been able to tolerate it. Now it seems to really help.

Just keep in mind that it can cause constipation in those who are prone to that.

If you get diarrhea... this stuff WORKS! [Smile]

My doctor prescribed it for candida. However, I couldn't manage taking it, it caused too much of a herx at the time for me.

I am wondering though, since it is a yeast product, won't anti-fungals just kill it????

Yes it helps. Not necessarily going to get a heavy job done all by itself. But certainly a great guy to have on the team.

Pebbles... yes... take the anti-fungals a few hours away from the yeast.

Be sure to take a high quality probiotic along with the s. boulardii.

LLMD stated that Diflucan/fluconazole will kill Saccharomyces. Diflucan can stay in your system for up to 5 days I believe.

No use taking Sacch. if you are on a course of diflucan. But all other times Sacch. is worth the $.
