Hello all, for all you who have or have had GI issues associated with Bartonella could you please post what kinds of gut problems you've had. I found several previous posts where people said they had GI problems that cleared up after Bart treatment but haven't found much specific on what those problems tend to be. Thanks so much!!!

I had terrible stomach cramps after eating. It didn't matter what I ate, it would cause pain.
I also had constant diarrhea.
Because of the pain associated with eating, and the diarrhea, I would also lose weight.
I had these symptoms come a few months after starting bart treatment. I've been back on levaquin for three days, and already my GI symptoms have cleared. The first time I don't think they went away so quickly.

Thanks for your response! Did your stomach symptoms start before being diagnosed and treated for TBIs?

My son had diarrhea and high fever and was diagnosed with Crohn's. He continued to have cramping and intermittent loose stools, but it didn't progress like CD. After his Lyme dx, we found that he also had Bartonella in the intestinal biopsies by PCR testing. His GI sx were much better after abx treatment, but he usually herxes while being treated.

My GI symptoms are constipation, IBS, decreased parilstalsis, redundant colon, delayed gastric emptying, reverse propogation of food when I swallow. My cecum sits on my bladder when the cecum fills up so I have urgency issues with the bladder. I also have decreased sensation for the urge to go and therefore have developed a mega colon, so yes I have major GI issues d/t bart.
Funny thing, I'm seeing progress in all my other symptoms except the GI symptoms.
My LLMD says we should be seeing improvement but may come later in treatment, there's so much damage to deal with.
