- It was like Clorox to my stomach, really very nauseating and painful. Never again. I tried many times and it was always far too caustic. It does say caprylic "acid" after all, I finally came to understand that it meant it.
I found OLE much easier, more effective and with multiple benefits. Even if you don't want OLE, there are many other herbal approaches if you are looking to tame candida. But if you go for oil of Oregano, be sure it is in a good strong gel cap so dissolves further down the hatch.
Glad you are considering gluten free in any pills. It does matter.
A very specific brand of Olive Leaf extract (or a brand that uses the same methods of growing, harvesting, processing) - Seagate. Detail:

I called them this morning and it is Gluten free.
I'm nervous about taking it though, especially now that I see your reactions!
Were either of you able to tolerate coconut oil?
I'm thinking about emptying some of the capsule contents into empty capsules, to start out slower?

- I think the antimicrobial properties of coconut oil "read" far better than the practical effects show in my case. But I don't have candida issues, more stealth infection issues.
Coconut oil, after a little sting, is gentle for me but it's not really all that effective, in my world and disappointing. I've dealt with mouth ulcers for many years and coconut oil (several times a day to soak in) has zero effect other than for soothing for about five minutes.
I don't deal with candida, though, so I can't say how it might be in that respect. But as for any anti-viral properties, it's certainly not impressive for my mouth, at least regarding this virus: HHV-6 (a strain of herpes).
Others who have candida might say otherwise for that purpose, though.
I find an alcohol free OLE that Seagate makes to be so much better for my mouth to soak in many times during the day, along with SeaBuckthorn Oil at bedtime. OLE in this form should help for candida / mouth issues, although the tablets would also be important.
Coconut oil is excellent for brain health, however. Not that it turned mine around but it is one of many oils I alternate for my brain. Nutiva Hemp Seed Oil is more impressive, though. -

- If you take the Caprylic Acid, my suggestion is to take it in middle of a substantial meal for starters to see how it works for you. And to keep torso upright for at least a half hour afterward.
As the nausea I got from it was debilitating, you might also want to try it when you are not planning to go out for the rest of the day. You may do fine with it yet just would not want this to hit you unexpectedly while driving or out and about.
Admittedly, some of the reaction I got might have due not just to the acidic ingredient but also to candida die-off as, at that time, candida was a big issue for me. Still, middle of a meal offers some buffering. And, had I known then about OLE, I never would have tried to make caprylic acid work so many times. -

I'm having a lot of trouble with candida now.
I have been on a strict candida diet and started diflucan and my candida numbers have actually increased.
I don't want to stay on diflucan any longer and I'm seeing a new Dr now that said Caprylic acid.
I have had really good results in the past with coconut oil on CMV and EBV when antivirals didn't help.
I always appreciate your wisdom, Keebler.

Great suggestion about taking in the middle of a meal. I hadn't thought about that. Thank you.

I had a huge herx from taking caprylic acid - that version was not time-released as this one is -
even still, I recommend taking a small amount of anything new to see whether you handle it, as in break open the capsule and take a small amount first. I have small empty capsules ready for these experiments.

Hi Tutu, I'm going to give it a shot tomorrow. I'm going to open the capsules and make smaller doses.
Robin - the Solaray brand is time released?

- Be sure to put smaller dose in a good capsule so that your esophagus is not irritated by direct contact.
or open a capsule and dump out most of it and then reseal and take.
Be sure not to breathe in any powder while you do this, not let any get onto your lips and wash you hands so that none get into your eyes inadvertently.
Drink water first so that the pill won't stick or dissolve too quickly in the mouth or esophagus on the way down. And drink plenty of water to be sure it's washed down. Then continue with your meal. -

I did not take that particular brand product, but have used a carpylic acid product years ago, and it did not help hardly at all.
I have used lauricidin (from coconut, monolaurin), and did find that very helpful for a good while.

I don't do well with much of anything. Usually have LOTS of problems. But, I was able to take the Caprylic Acid with no problem. Don't remember the brand name, sorry!
I used it for yeast, which I typically don't have a huge problem with these days, but did back then. Much preferred to Diflucan, in my opinion.
Killing a lot of yeast would overwhelm the system and would probably cause a worsening before seeing improvement.
And I would NOT take anything on an empty stomach. Ever.
I also have no problem with coconut oil if that helps. I use it topically, not internally, simply because I don't like the way it makes my food taste and I can't imagine swallowing oil by itself. Yulk!
Nature's Sunshine typically makes an excellent product- the one TuTu took, so not sure what her problem is. (Although we can always speculate- HA!)
Glad you are doing those other helpful things. I find it takes a good 2 weeks to start seeing improvement with yeast. But when it happens it is nice.
