Jordan started taking Amoxicillin. He is supposed to take 500mg 4x/day.

After he takes the Amoxicillin, he starts to feel very hot, dizzy, and nauseous. It usually lasts 30 to 90 minutes.

Has this happened to anyone else?

Did it go away?

Thanks!

This sounds like a possible allergic reaction (particularly the hot and dizzy part). I would call your Dr. ASAP, and if you can't reach your doctor, call a pharmacist.

With large doses, allergic reactions to abx can quickly become very dangerous.

If you tell him exactly what's happening, Doc Jones will be able to discern whether this is indeed an allergic reaction..

I know to look also for breathing problems, rashes and hives.

Though, I would suspect this could also have to do with drug interaction, or maybe his initial response based on the illness.. has he been off abx for a while?

That's what J can iron out.

Good Luck! Let us know what happens..

Mo

Pab, before I took Amoxy, I went to an allergist & had him test me for a Penicillin allergy.

I hope your boys are doing better.

I tolerated amoxy for 10 days, then went into a full body rash! Bleck.

Definitely get that checked out as it may be an allergic reaction. I'll be thinking about you!
