yeah I have been looking at this possibility for a while, but yeah after going to the website I am impressed. especially at the fact that from positive serum testing, they were able to SUCCESSFULLY CULTURE BORRELIA in some of the positive serum. i don't know if this is bullsh*t or not, but yeah this is pretty incredible if they can do that. actually i am taking microbiology next fall and I have to take a keystone class for my major and i am interested in culturing borrelia bacteria if this is possible by an undergrad student... hell I might even try to culture it from my blood if I still have it haha

It is possible to culture Bb from blood, but it is difficult and that is why most commerical labs do not do it.

You need a specialized culture medium and different mediums depending upon which genus of Bb you are looking at. For example:BSK-H for B. sensu stricto, however, MPM is works for B.afzelii and garinii, but is not comercially available, so you have to make the medium your self.

What school are you going to? Do they allow undergrads to work with pathogenic bacteria?

Good luck to you.
