Hi Everyone!

I'm writing again with a question about head pain because I'm getting really concerned...

I've been on 2000 mg Amox. day for about 2 mos. and my doc. prescribed Zithromax for 9 days to see how I would respond (of course, no relief, terrible lower back pain, etc.) My LLMD suggested I stop the Zithro. and now I'm having more pain in the back lower side of my head.

I did experience this early on with the Amox. and it has come and gone throughout my treatment, but I'm really worried.

I'm going back to see my LLMD this week-should I suggest an MRI to check for any kind of lesions?

Is this common when herxing? And is it common for it to happen off and on in the same area for months at a time?

Also, I was bit by the tick that left a rash on my right shoulder and seem to have most symptoms on the right side of my body-is there any connection?

I apologize if these questions have been asked before but I'm having trouble getting specific information with the search...

Thanks for all the help!
Kim

Hi backatcha.

Low back pain is pretty common with LD, but you also have to pay attention to your kidneys when you're on abx. We're using an herbal tonic (Wise Woman Herbals Glandular Tonic) to promote kidney health and lymphatic drainage. Seems to be working (no kidney or lymph problems so far) and was recommended by my LLMD and ND.

I had a lot of muscular low back pain that came and went, sometimes lasting for months. It's pretty much completely gone now. Massage and stretching helped a lot.

I used to have fairly dreadful headaches, too. Sometimes they were in the low back of my head, around the occiput; sometimes at the temples, and sometimes I felt like someone had stuck a hot poker through my eyball. And sometimes it felt as if an iron band was tightened all around my head. They would come and go, and sometimes last for months. Pretty much all gone, except for occaisionally, and they only last a day or two at the most now.

My doc's theory was that it was a combination of inflammation of the meninges, blood flow issues, and toxins. My husband had the same thing. Nothing showed up in his MRIs (I never had one done), but I say go with you gut -- if you feel strongly about it, have the MRI done.

About the sideness of the bite/sx -- I have not experienced that.

You probably want to take a look at cholestyramine to reduce the endotoxin load -- but for me the treatment really increased the headache pain at first, so go gently. After my 2nd round of CSM, though, I felt I experienced significant improvement. I still find it very difficult to sort out what tx did what, though, in all honesty.

Good luck.

M~
Thanks for the reply and advice-I really appreciate it and I will try some of your suggestions to see if that helps.

Just out of curiosity, is there anything that I can do to alleviate this scalp discomfort that I'm feeling? Would it be worthwhile to put hot or cold on the area? It's not really a painful feeling, it's more of an annoying tingling that doesn't go away in one area and almost feels like I've had my hair pulled too tightly in that spot like when I was a kid and used to wear it in a ponytail for too long (sorry, I'm doing my best to explain this strange feeling!)

If anyone has any advice for something to alleviate this I'd really appreciate it!

Thanks again!
