Just found out today that I definately have Erlichiosis and probably bartonella. So abx has been changed from amoxicillin to doxy. If I start the doxy tonight, will I herx soon after?

We are taking our son on a college visit this Sunday and Monday all day and I can't be herxing and I don't want to miss it.

Should I just wait until after we are home before starting it just to be on the safe side?

Thanks for any insight.

Peggy

I don't think anyone can tell you for sure what will happen when you start the doxy...everyone reacts so differently to treatment.

I've been on a number of different abx. With some I felt no change in symptoms. With others I herxed, but the amount of time it took the herx to start differed in each case.

Did you ask your LLMD if there's any harm in waiting a few days?

I'm probably getting switched to ketek right before Thanksgiving, and if it's really close I might wait a few days so I can be sure to enjoy my pumpkin pie (oh, and my family)

Of course I didn't think of it until about an hour ago. With going through the rest of my list of woe's and then hearing I now have coinfections on top of the lyme, getting instructions for doxy, etc. etc., I just didn't think about it.

Just to be on the safe side, I think I will probably hold off.

Pumpkin pie, pumpkin roll and fresh coconut cake, oh my!!!!
