I'm on doxy and rifampin for Bartonella. My doctor says he will only keep me on this for 8 weeks and then he'll switch to a combo of with Cipro.
While on the doxy and rifampin, I've been getting rashes that are bright pink and slightly itchy. Has anyone else been getting this. I'm not sure if it's an allergy because I feel fine otherwise. My doctor says it might be the toxins of the disease coming out. I've had some really good days since the treatment, but a lot of days I'm really fatigued.

Yes it is to target bartonella.I havent had any rashes but the first two weeks my skin was like bug crawly and burning. From what I was told people with TB are on rifampin for up to 9 months, anyone been on it for several months?I also am much more fatigued but the nuero and sleeping seem to be a little, very little better.Ive only been on it about a month now and im just over half the dose.I have been sick for two and a half years and my bilirubin has been high, even before I was on antibiotics(a sign of bartonella),funny thing is the only two drugs to bring the bilirubin within range has been cipro and rifampin(2 bartonella drugs),maybe a little light at the end of this huge tunnel.Joe

kaos, I've been on rifa/mino for 1 month and got the rash you speak of. according to research (which I'll email if asked) it is the rash that flairs when brucella is being killed.
red, medalions, raised and forever peeling. also somewhat itchy. rifa/doxy is the treatment for brucella. brcella likes to attack the spleen and liver.
Notice lower back pain? kt
