This to clarify the new posts by Ellen and Tincup this evening, in case you haven't seen them:

From Ellen:

Rumors out of the Governors office have told us to
expect a veto today.
I don't know about you, but I am madder than I can
express.

WE ALL NEED TO CALL THE GOVERNOR RIGHT NOW AND EXPRESS
OUR ANGER AT HIS RUMORED INTENTION TO VETO THE BILL.

PLEASE BE POLITE BUT FIRM. THE POLITE PART IS
IMPORTANT .

PHONE NUMBER IS 518 -474-8390 . YOU WILL PROBABLY GET
A MACHINE SO LEAVE YOUR NAME ADDRESS WITH ZIP AND
PHONE NUMBER.

THIS IS FOR EVERYBODY, EVEN IF YOU JUST CALLED THE GOVERNOR FIVE MINUTES AGO. CALL AGAIN.

A sample message would be "I have heard that the
Governor intends to veto OPMC Reform Bill A4274b.. am a Lyme patient and am furious about the Governor's abandonment of the rights of sick patients ."

I'm too angry and upset now to think of other firm but civil messages, so please post some other suggestions.
Thanks,
Ellen

Letter from Tincup, an expression of concern, we need to each call as per Ellen's post above, citing concern for the rumor of veto:

Dear Governor,
I have been requesting that you help "us" with the OPMC Reform Bill for more days,
months, or actually years than I can count.

Normally I write on behalf of others who are too sick to do it for themselves... and
sometimes I write to you for those who have already died because they couldn't find a
doctor to help them.

There are thousands of us all over the world who are chronically ill, and who depend on
the doctors we have found to keep us alive and functioning.

Tonight... as I sit here thinking about the possibility of the bill not being passed.. I
suddenly realized that if you veto this bill.. I could die.

Yes, ME.

I know the OPMC is backing off their witch hunt of trying to prosecute doctors right
now, until the final decision is made on this bill.

Unfortunately, it will be "OPEN SEASON" on these doctors if this bill is vetoed.. and I.. yes ME.. may lose MY doctor.

That scares me.

I need him.

I can't replace him.

He, along with many others who help all of us, are trained by the doctors in New York, who also need this protection.

They are the ONLY hope I have had in over 18 years. They helped ME return from a
vegetative state and regain my health. No, my life is not perfect yet and I am still
chronically ill.. but it is MUCH better than it has been ... and without them I will slip
back into a non-functioning mode.. or die.

PLEASE... don't veto this OPMC Reform bill.

If I can spend every spare minute I have helping chronically ill people... as a volunteer... you could certainly give me ONE tool that will help in this effort... can't you?

I don't ask for money from you... or gifts.. or even a holiday greeting card.

I don't ask for anything... other than protection for the care givers who allow us to live and function.

Thank you for taking time to hear my plea.

And yes, it is a plea for MY life tonight.

Sincerely,

Posted by Tincup:

Only a few more hours left.
The situation is not good.

We MUST get this bill passed if we want to keep our LLMD's doors open for all who are sick.. and all who will become sick.

Everyone, everywhere..

TONIGHT is the deadline.

PLEASE..

No matter when you last did it..

Contact Governor Pataki's office and let them know we NEED this bill passed.

It WILL save lives!

CALL Governor Pataki's office NOW:

Leave a message on the machine.

518-474-8390

The message you want to give is...

Your name.. your town and zipcode.. and...

"Please, don't let us down. Please sign the OPMC Reform Bill A4274b."

Then-

Click here to email Governor Pataki: http://161.11.3.75/

Scroll to the middle of the page to send Governor Pataki an email.

Message- "Please sign the OPMC Reform Bill A4274b. It may mean the difference between life and death for many chronically ill patients."

Thank you!

So I take it that this ain't over until 1) midnight, when the bill passes automatically into law if not vetoed or 2) the gov vetoes the bill? Should we like, call/email every hour until we hear we've prevailed, or do you stop if you've called and emailed yesterday and today, and again after 4pm today?

BTW, friends and family have been great about calling/emailing. Had one retired friend sail in from her offshore mooring in Puget Sound especially to hook up to email.

I think people are glad to do something to help me that is so easy and feels so constructive . And they can so easily see themselves in my situation.

My best guess is if everyone who called and e-mailed anytime befire 4PM today, does so again (and expressed firm concern over possible veto, and asks him please not to turn his back on the chronically ill patients of the nation)

We can make the impact needed.

I think we are not to make multiple calls from the same individual after 4, unless Ellen tells us to.

Think of what is happening and get all to call again, ourselves included.

Unleashing the OPMC on out LLMD's will start a domino effect, as one more LLMD in NJ faces investigation..more to follow.

We will loose our chance at having any hope of any Doc to ever, ever replace Doctor Jones!!

Everyone needs to call AGAIN and express their dismay at the idea of veto, and the impact on the chronically ill if he does this.

The idea in asking everybody to call again after 4pm today is that we want everyone to register their reaction to the leak that we got that Pataki was planning to veto the bill.

So this means one phone call per person.

Let him know what this possible veto would mean for us as Lyme patients. Let him "feel our pain."

It seems to me inconceivable that any politician could feel what we feel or could read what Tincup wrote and still veto a bill that would help us.

But, I guess it's conceivable .
We just should not go down without first making him fully aware of what his decision is doing to thousands of people.

I gotta lie down for a while. I will contact you as soon as I hear if anything has happened. (meaning if he has vetoed the bill).

In the meantime, if people here are on LoveyOnLyme or Lyme-Aid, could you please post there to get a discussion going on what is happening with the bill now.

There are so many people on those lists. And usually people don't act until there is a discussion about an issue, not just action alerts.
Thanks,
Ellen
