Hey folks,

I started Artemisinin a couple of weeks ago. Within 48 hours of starting, I got intense vertigo/dizzy spells and headaches. The headaches have stopped and vertigo isn't as intense, but I still feel fuzzy and have difficulty concentrating. I'm exhausted and find it difficult to focus my eyes to read.

I'm also having difficulty holding onto numbers in my head - I've always had a great memory when it comes to numbers. Five minutes ago, it took me 7 tries to get my password right for my voice mail.

What I'm experiencing seems to be what people describe as neuro/cognitive symptoms. Is it possible that this is just a side effect from the artemisinin? If it's a herx, does it mean I will likely have worsening cognitive symptoms as I increase artemisinin or switch to mepron?

Thanks,
A

Hi,
I herxed like mad on Artemisinin when I started it, but did not herx on mepron. I am finished with my mepron treatment for now, but am still taking Artemisinin. No really herxing anymore but within one-half hour of taking it, I have a huge hot flash, regular as clockwork.

Vertigo has been with me since the beginning. Mepron seemed to help it a bit, but once I went off, it is back and worse than ever. J. clinic only does one month of mepron with clindy. Then you take it again later.

What I wonder about all the time is the vertigo from lyme or babs??

Artemisinin is strong stuff, but my holistic doc recommends it.

Regards,
Lymelady

Heidi Ho Aniek...

I have a REALLY good answer for you!

Yes, no, maybe so!

OK.. I am trying!

You said..

"What I'm experiencing seems to be what people describe as neuro/cognitive symptoms."

Yes.. it COULD be.. BUT..

Before we run down THAT road.. let's check a few other things.

Yeast will cause this to happen. Have ya been sugaring yourself up lately?

Woops! Gotta stop here.. sorry. Back soon.

Thats a tough one.

I've taken artemisinin and it was NO fun.

The first time I took it, it made me ill within a half hour. That was one pill, and I was down for three days barely able to move.

I literally scared myself away from the stuff for about five months

and stared at my bottle more than once thinking "what an evil lil herb YOU are"!

But, there came a time I got brave and worried enough I had babs, that I tried it again. I made it to the third pill and got ill.

Neurological symptoms seem to abound for me on that stuff. Dizzy, vertigo, MASSIVE headaches, body joints, bouncing eyes, inability to walk around, etc.

Side effect or die off? Honestly, I really don't know.

Im not brave enough to try it again- yet

Crime - what dosage were you taking? My LLMD said some of her patients find 500mg capsules, and others 100mg. Maybe you can start lower?

Tincup - You may have a point. I actually have not had my typical yeast symptoms for a while, so I started adding some whole grains in. And, I know you will be shocked, but I've been cheating and eating a cookie or two at holiday parties.
